SKYRIM - LEGENDARY EDITION

Post » Tue Jul 29, 2014 1:08 pm

Hi all,

Sorry to ask such a 'novice' question, but can someone explain how, in comparison to standard Skyrim game, the Legendary Edition works? Is Dawnguard, Hearthfire & Dragonborn just extra areas added on to the Skyrim map? Do you need to progress so far in Skyrim before these extras are available?

Any & all info will be much appreciated.

PS: I'm currently Level 39 in Skyrim, but if I change to Legendary Edition, I have to start from square one again. Is there ANY way to avoid this?? Boo hoo

As far as I know the "Legendary Edition" is just Skyrim and all the dlcs rolled into one. And the dlcs are mostly added weapons, armour, characters, areas, quests and new stories.

Playing the legendary edition does not mean you need to restart and create a new charcter. The LE just adds the three add-ons and all of the available patches that fix game bugs. I'm quite positive you need to be maybe level 20 or so before you can begin Dragonborn. Not sure if there's a requirement for Dawnguard but either way, with you being level 39, you'll have no problem meeting any requirement. Both those add-ons add extra storylines and numerous new quests, locations, weapons, armor and abilities. They're well worth playing. Hearthfire grants you the ability to build your own home and even adopt children. Building a home is fun because you can make it a small cabin to a large multiple story home.

I took out Skyrim, put in the Legendary Edition, and straight away it went to the opening scene? (no mention of loading trophies etc) Therefore, I'm assuming I have to start from the beginning - which I'm not totally keen on.

Dawnguard: starts at level 10 or earlier if you hear a rumor and find the headquarters on your own.

Dragonborn: main quest starts after completing The Way of the Voice or skipping the first quest and travelling straight to the Temple of Miraak. Most side quests are available at any time after taking a boat to Solstheim from Windhelm. Recommended above level 20.

Hearthfire: you can purchase land after gaining the jarl's favor (three available holds: the Pale, Hjaalmarch and Falkreath)

Since you refer to "taking out" Skyrim, I assume you're playing on console, in which case I have no idea how to keep your savefiles. They should work with the Legendary Edition though.

Go to load game. Your save files should still be there.

I had a similar experience with "LA Noire". I originally purchased the standard edition and then decided I wanted all the DLC so I purchased a pre-owned ultimate edition as it was cheaper than downloading all the DLC seperately and of course kept my saves. When I inserted the DLC disc I couldn't load my original saves and it would only work with the disc from the ultimate edition. Maybe they're coded to only work with each other and not the original game disc.

Sadly, when I put in new disc (legendary edition) it wont allow me to choose "load" as an option. looks like i'll be going back to square one.

That doesn't make sense as when I changed to legendary it had all my current loads. There's a problem with your console then since the game data is in the console not the disc. My skyrim disc broke once and I just replaced it and everything was still there. And then when I changed to legendary edition my current character was there too. So there's something up with your console it it didn't keep your game data.

That said legendary edition is a must buy. Dawnguard and DLC are awesome add ons with hearthfire giving a little extra although I never cared much for the notion of living a life in this game since...IT IS A GAME! No I just want to pwn and slaughter when I get on not make stew and watch my character eat it.

But legendary also adds legendary skills if you want to level up past 81 and the new legendary difficulty which is basically master 2.0. And when you fight arguably the hardest boss in the game DLC adds The Ebony Warrior on legendary difficulty, you'll know you're a hardcoe player then.

Base game skyrim vs legendary edition

Apart from dlc nothing was added ? I heard a rumour npc dialog was changed and there are less bugs in the legendary edition .. Xbox 360 .
