Windows 7 Home x64 Ram Issue

Post » Tue Jul 29, 2014 6:35 pm

Hi Guys, I recently re-installed Windows 7 Home Edition 64 bit on a new solid state drive. Before the install, the computer had 4.0 gigs of ram and it was saying all 4.0 gigs are usable. Now it only says 3.5 out of the 4.0 gigs are usable. The computer has a dedicated video card, a Geforce 9600 GSO 384 MB. When I check memory allocation, it says 512 MB are reserved for hardware. How can I fix this issue? Thank you!

Can you look at: Write msconfig at your windows search, then boot tab, advanced options, un-check the maximum memory if it is limited.

--------------------------------

The Hardware Reserved memory is reserved for use by the BIOS and some drivers for other peripherals. Therefore, I suggest you updating the BIOS and all possible devices driver from manufacture's site.

Of course if your Mobo it too old, you can't do anything about it, i guess. lol

I would not be concerned about how the system utilizes resources, unless you find that you are having performance issues. !!!

What else you can do:

You can "Enable the memory remapping feature" in your BIOS settings. (if you have that option, of course)
