Hi all,

I recently updated my geforce drivers to the latest version, but apparently the new ones don't support the GTX 560-Ti anymore, as in I wasn't able to set the 1080p screen resolution anymore. So I had to get back to some old driver (I picked a random one). Now, I'm installing Skyrim Legendary Edition and all its DLCs, so I'm wondering what driver should I install to get the best performance with such game (and of course compatible with the video card).

If you have windows 7 64-bit those drivers should be OK.

Un-install your drivers from your "Programs and features" in control panel.

Run CCleaner. http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

Make a registry clean up.

Delete your skyrim.ini and skyrimPrefs.ini files.

Install your new drivers (340.42). Make a clean install. (install only main drivers, HD sound, and PhysX)

According to the Supported Products list for the 340.52 driver, your card is supported. I had a problem with PhysX in one (at least, didn't try them all) game with that one, so I'm using 337.88.

Why is it that so many issues arise when people update their drivers?

Some drivers just don't play well with some setups. Also, mistakes can be made with uninstalling/reinstalling. All you need for gaming are the video and PhysX drivers. The other included drivers are only needed for nVidia Audio and 3D... and chipset I think. If you don't need those, don't install them.

That's with an nVidia card. It's been a long time since I owned an ATI, so I don't know how they're doing these days.
