The information we have on Masser and Secunda is limited and mostly coloured by cultural bias, so I'm not really expecting solid answers here but trying to ascertain a majority opinion from the community would be nice.
I'm curious, do you think that the light we perceive, on Nirn, seemingly radiating from the moons is caused by Masser and Secunda reflecting light from the sun (Aetherius window), in a manner similar to our own moon reflecting light from Sol, or do you think that Nirn's moons behave differently and emit their own light? Perhaps due to their being the supposed remains of divine entities?
I ask this because I'm writing a children's mantra published by the Vigil of Stendarr which aims to teach children about each of the Daedric Princes and build a basic understanding of how to ward them off or dismiss them. Within the mantra, I'm thinking of insulting Meridia by saying she is "no more than a moon", implying that her status as a "Prince of Light" is her merely refracting the heavenly power emitted from Aetherius through the sun, possessing no 'luminescence' of her own. A pretender claiming power that she does not have. However, if we don't think that popular opinion on Nirn would be that Masser and Secunda reflect the sun's light, this line would have to be dropped or reworked, because using lunar metaphor wouldn't make sense culturally.
I'd be grateful for any input or insights. =)
