Serana and Dawnguard = Underworld?

Post » Fri Aug 08, 2014 1:34 pm

Anyone else think so?

Very similar name to Selene ( Underworld series) and even physically resembles her.

I'd be lying if I said my first reaction to Serana was that Bethesda got the idea from Underworld. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was just a coincidence, but its hard not to think thats what they based Dawnguard off of.

I think it was influenced by Selene, her name is quite similar and she does look quite like Selene as well. Also the Vampire Lord form that Lord Harkon introducse.... looks alot like Marcus Corvinus.

Underworld was the inspiration for the Dawnguard Mod. I say "inspiration" but it goes a little further than inspiration when you basically carbon copy the image for the Vampire Lord.

It's underworld meets twilight meets Skyrim.

It's also very much like the second Blade movie's plot.

Young vampire woman has a bad relationship with her father whom is cold towards her and is willing to let her die if it means the future of vampires.

His goal was to create vampires that are immune to the sun.

I didn't think of that.

Does anyone think that the Vampire Lord form might have been cooler if they had used Drake's red muscular vampire form from Blade Trinity ?

To be honest, I can't think of a whole lot of original vampire movie plots anymore.

I loved Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter for some reason :P

^^^

probably because Abe Lincoln, vampire hunter was pretty original :P

But yes. Dawnguard is pretty much Underworld meets Skyrim.

I will say no, it is not twilight but then again I never watched that filth. But vampire lord form, ripped from Underworld. Serana/Selena. Not to mention Serana goes to battle against her father. Just like Selena does to her vampire fathers.

Would Victor be considered Selene's adoptive father since she reminded him of Sonja; the daughter he condemned to death?

He did have her father and the rest of her family killed ; after he had her father build William's prison.

And why do the main woman vampire protagonist characters aside from Eve; always get a name beginning with the letter S?

Because it is the most sinister of letters. It even looks like a snake. I've got an S in my last name, and it may be mine, but I'll tell you right now that I sure as heck don't trust it. Do you see the way it inevitably pollutes this paragraph about it? Hiding in plain sight? Use the S. Work with it. But don't trust it.

Like a vampire.

Yep, when poked about the Vampire Lords appearance Vsions basically states along the line that the point was for something "familiar" to people :twirl: but you know, at least they didn't go with the Blue eyes and everything right/

Babette is pretty much Claudia from Interview with the Vampire.

And Farkas was obviously heavily inspired by Lassie.

With a touch of Bram Stokers Dracula hair: http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/10700000/Bram-Stoker-s-Dracula-bram-stokers-dracula-10765527-1024-576.jpg

Even the stupid red lip line looks borrowed from another vampire along with the daddy daughter story from the same movie (as mentioned above): http://www.dvdactive.com/images/reviews/screenshot/2005/10/blade2r11.jpg

Have you noticed

Spoiler
if you kill of the Dark Brotherhood; Babbette is the only one not there when you kill everyone.

I know Bethesda removed her because she is a child NPC and you can't kill kids. I assume she saw you coming to kill everyone....and fled? or....maybe she came after and saw the aftermath and than left? I'm only guessing. I guess we'll never know what story line explains why she wasn't there.

She was probably just off feeding as you can observe her doing from time to time.

if you destroy the dark brotherhood then the random appearance of her feeding (came with Dawnguard) will not happen.

I believe since no violence is allowed towards children its simply safe to say Babette simply does not exist in the Dark Brotherhood if your destroying them. She only appears with them if you join up.

No trolling intended JN. But wouldn't these plot elements be more appropriate for a Twilight setting?

I mean seriously : werewolf bronies + moody vampires + cluless damsel = Twilight
