Any free programs that can run Excel like spreadsheets?

Post » Mon Aug 11, 2014 7:11 am

No hacks, everything legal of course.

I'm hoping to find something free to run an excel spreadsheet (much like 7zip which is free can replace winzip which isn't free). I really only need to work with one spreadsheet a few times and don't feel like paying $100.00 to do it.

Looked at a few which avast started screaming about so I ignored them. Right now I'm looking at this one http://www.kingsoftstore.com/office/free-excel. Anyone tried that one or others they have liked?

Thanks,

There's a Chrome Extension that lets Google Drive run Microsoft Office products I think. It can't make them, but it can view and edit and stuff, I think.

Office Editing for Docs, Sheets and Slides

[You have to be using Chrome--it's in the Chrome Web Store]

Would Open Office work? It's free to try.

I know when you're working with Word docs it has to convert them into .odt files.

Check out Libreoffice. I use it and quite like it.

Open or Libre Office should work provided the spreadsheet isn't too complicated or uses some special Exel features.
