Uncle Cross Hideout - Cross Goodies

(Oblivion Mod)

...

Uncle Cross Hideout - Cross Hideout is an "everything" mod, with optional “addons” that add thousands of items to Oblivion. Instead of uploading individual items as new mods, they are included inh this mod in the form of updates or addons. Make sure to check the mod page (http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/43162) (Nexus) often for the latest files available.

The base mod contains a huge, remotely-accessible, partner-friendly home, custom playable races, game fixes/modifications, recruitable followers, a large new land to explore, and a multitude of unique items, objects, and spells that cannot be found anywhere else. Additional items and functionality, such as some unique CM-based partners, are available in the form of optional addons. You will have to work a little to get the hideout and its goodies. But, once you get access to it, you can visit the hideout anytime, from anywhere. Furthermore, the hideout and all of the addon areas reset whenever you return to the hideout, meaning that any items that have been removed from any of the respawning containers in the hideout will be replenished whenever you leave and return to the hideout.

With the complexity of a mod, such as Cross Goodies, it is very important for every user to thoroughly read the documentation included with the mod. Notes on many of the unique items, objects, spells, settings, etc. that Cross Goodies includes are available below.

Cross Goodies is created using techniques, such as adding items to leveled lists via script, to ensure compatibility, and is consistently and relentlessly optimized and tested for compatibility and functionality. However, some conflicts cannot be avoided or resolved. These irreconcilable conflicts are listed and explained below. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions please let me know. The mod description page and readmes/text files (included in the download) are constantly updated with any reported bugs/conflicts related to this mod. Please thoroughly read the mod description page or the included readmes/text files before reporting any bugs/conflicts.

Feedback (positive and negative) is very important to mod authors AND mod users. We want your comments, ratings, screenshots, and suggestions. The more input that is received, the better Cross Goodies, and other mods, will be.

Vampire Eye Fix (should work on all custom races, regardless of eye nifs or textures used)
Vampire Aging Fix (disables vampire aging)
Increased Soul Gem Capacities (1.5X)
Removed annoying persistent glow on armor enchantments (Player won’t glow like Christmas tree)
Numerous other game play/performance enhancements

The modifications below can be disabled via the CG Mod Settings spell:
Increased Training Max (Player can train up to 15 times per level – More realistic IMO)
Sneak Attack Multiplier Increases (Increases with Stealth stat increase – Explained further below)
Real Fatigue (Amount depends on Athletics level and Encumbrance percentage – Explained further below)

Other Plug-ins/Addons:

These are plug-ins that add Cross Goodies functionality to mods created by other users and myself. The assets of the original mods are not changed, except to include copies of the items contained in the mods to containers in the hideout, remove unnecessary containers, possibly have additional colors, enchantments, and improvements, and have the assets compressed into BSA archives. The permissions and credits of these mods can be found on the original mods’ pages. The original authors retain copyright to the assets in the mods.

Requirements:

(Need to be installed prior to installing this mod)
Oblivion – Latest Patch
Shivering Isles – Latest Patch
Custom Race Fix/Unofficial Patches
OBSE 2.1 – Oblivion Script Extender (included in zip - make sure to read install instructions in folder)
OBME – Oblivion Magic Extender (included in zip)
Growlf’s Universal Skeleton (included in zip)
HGEC Body (BBB compatible – included in zip – optional folder)
Robert’s Male Body (included in zip – optional folder)
CM Partners – Latest Version (if optional partner mods are installed)
Darnified UI (Not necessarily needed, but highly recommended)
BBB Animation Mod (If desired)

Notes/Issues:

Overall - There are no conflicts that I am aware of for this mod, except for any mod that contains OBSE plugins (DLLS) that affect the way Oblivion handles magic effects or a mod that drastically changes the Arcane University grounds and has a possibility of “hiding” the initial “goodies” container. More about this conflict is explained below.

OBME & Custom Spell Icons Conflict - OBME and Custom Spell Icons are incompatible with each other. If OBME and CSI are installed at the same time, instant CTD’s (crashes to desktop) will occur. As OBME is required for this mod, removing CSI will solve this problem and allow you to use this mod.

The only mods that conflict with Cross Goodies are those that use OBSE plugins (DLLs) or mods (ESPs/ESMs) that change the way magic effects, most notably icons, are handled. The conflict is not with Cross Goodies. The conflict is with the Oblivion Magic Extender plugin (OBME), required by and included with Cross Goodies.

The mods that have been found to cause the conflict above are listed below:

Paladin Mod - The Hand of Arkay (http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/41095/)
------Delete "PaladinModCustomSpellIcons.dll" in the "Data>OBSE>Plugins" directory of the Oblivion install directory.
Custom Spell Icons (http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/26196/)
------Delete "CustomSpellIcons.dll" in the "Data>OBSE>Plugins" directory of the Oblivion install directory and disable "CustomSpellIcons.esm".
Script Effect Icon Replacer (http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/7232/)
------Disable "ScriptEffectIconReplace.esp" and/or "ScriptIcon_Replacer.esp".

If you have any of these mods, they must be uninstalled/deleted for Cross Goodies to work (and avoid CTD). DO NOT delete "OBME.dll" in the "Data>OBSE>Plugins" directory of the Oblivion install directory or Cross Goodies will not work!

Quest – The hideout and items will not be available until the player completes the quest. For the sake of some balance, the quest will not start until the player has reached a level of at least 6.

Secret Hideout – Accessed from anywhere, at any time, via the Secret Hideout spell. It is a huge, partner-friendly home, with sleeping for ten (10) and enough extra space for the player to add furniture and objects from mods, like Imperial Furniture, and make it his own. All respawning objects (containers, flora, etc.) respawn every time the player leaves and reenters the hideout.

Secret Stash, Remote Potion, & Remote Ingredient Containers – These containers can be accessed from anywhere, at any time, via the Secret Hideout spell. These containers, as all containers in Oblivion, can suffer from the container bug inherent to Oblivion. This is Oblivion-related and not the fault of any mod. If you notice that items added to the “stash” seem to disappear they are not really gone (usually). Simply select “Take All” and the item(s) should show up in your inventory.

Alchemy Station/Sorter – A stationary alchemy station/sorter that gives the player the option to either create a potion or automatically store ingredient items in the ingredient cabinet (independently accessible and located near the station). If the player chooses to create a potion, master-level apparatuses and all ingredients “stored” in the ingredient cabinet are added to the player and the alchemy screen is shown. Upon closing the alchemy screen, the apparatuses are removed and all ingredients carried by the player are automatically moved to the ingredient cabinet.
* If used remotely, the player might have to cast the “sorting” spell twice sometimes to effectively move all items to the ingredient cabinet. This is a limitation of the gaming engine. This does not happen very often.

Brewer – A custom brewing station, located in the west wing of the hideout, where the player can make custom brews. The available recipes are seen in the Custom Brew Manual, near the brewer. The ingredients are available from within a respawning ingredient crate near the brewer. All of the ingredients (except for wheat grain) are exclusive to the brewer and carry no alchemy effects.

Race Changer – Allows the player to change races in-game without losing any stats or acquired abilities (e.g. Gray Prince’s Training) and adding any abilities/spells native to the race the player changes to. This item requires the player to follow the directions, stated in “Cross_Goodies_Race_Changer_ReadMe.rtf”, to work properly. Please read “Cross_Goodies_Race_Changer_ReadMe.rtf” before using the Race Changer.

Item Replicator – Not only makes copies of whatever items and their amounts, but also replaces the original items with brand new copies of themselves (as if they were purchased new – using original base IDs). If you put 100 Iron Arrows and 2 Iron Swords in the “Replicator Reaction Chamber” and activate the “Replicator Activator” you will find 200 Iron Arrows and 4 Iron Swords in the “Replicator Reaction Chamber” when the replication is complete. The replicator works on any non-quest inventory item in the game, including items that have been made via enchanting altars, sigil stones, or enchantment gems. Best of all, as the replicator script DOES NOT use the “DuplicateAllItems” command or any commands that create “clones” of objects and it actively destroys all items before replicating them, virtually an unlimited number of items can be replicated without the fear of “savegame bloat”.
* Costs 200 Septims and 100 Magicka to operate.

Practice Scamps – Why have practice scamps? Why would you practice on an inanimate object when you can practice on living creatures and gain experience points? The scamps only inflict one (1) point of damage to their targets on every hit and keep respawning until the player shuts them off. The scamps spawn in the lower level of the east wing. You can turn the practice scamps on/off via the Hideout Power Gem.

Summon Spells (Target Versions) – What makes these spells unique is that, unlike most summon spells, they act on a target.

? “At Target” Version – Minions will be summoned by the target and immediately attack the target. Once the target has been killed, the minions will die as well.

? “Target” Version – The minions will be summoned by the player and immediately attack the target. Once the target has been killed, the minions will assume normal summon behavior on behalf of the player.

orgismitron – The orgismitron is not a modeling milestone, but I think you will find it to be very unique and fun to use. A unique item, called Love Juice, is added to the player’s inventory by interaction with the orgismitron and can be used as a poison as well as “ammunition” for the Share The Love spell.

Share The Love (spell) – Added by interaction with orgismitron. Has no magicka cost. Instead, uses are determined by the amount of Love Juice the player has. When the player runs out of love juice the spell is removed. When the player acquires more love juice the spell is added to the player again.

Impart Knowledge – Spell that teaches the target some of the Cross Goodies spells. It checks the target’s magic school levels and adds the appropriate leveled spell to the target’s spell list. Area-of-effect spells have been omitted to keep spells casted from target from affecting the player unless they are intended to do so.

Mystic GPS – Never lose track of a partner, companion, or horse again!
? To set the target, cast the Mystic GPS spell on any actor.
? You can see the location of the target at any time select the Mystic GPS quest as your active quest and checking your map or compass.

Spell “Upgrade” Functionality – Spells are added by the Tome of Enlightenment in their “base” state. Many of the spells can be upgraded by interaction with the Hideout Power Gem. The amount of upgrade is determined by the player’s skill levels in the various magic schools. When spells are updated, the lower-level spells are replaced by the higher-level spells.

Enchantment Gems – Act as Sigil Stones. They are separated, as labeled, for weapons (blades/blunts/bows), apparel (clothing/armor/amulets/rings), or staffs. Make sure to choose the correct type of item when enchanting items with these gems to limit undesirable results.

? “Staff” Enchantment Gems - The enchantment menu will not show that the “target” effects are being applied to the staff. But, they will be. The enchanted staff effects will be displayed as “strike” in the slide-out menu of the staff in inventory view. But, the effects are applied as “target” effects.

Sneak Attack Multiplier – Increases with Stealth stat increase (including enchantments, spells, etc.).
? Marksman increases: Novice (0-24) – 2x, Apprentice (25-49) – 3x, Journeyman (50-74) – 5x, Expert (75-99) – 7x, Master (100+) – 9x
? Melee increases: Novice (0-24) – 4x, Apprentice (25-49) – 6x, Journeyman (50-74) – 8x, Expert (75-99) – 12x, Master (100+) – 16x

Real Fatigue – Player burns Fatigue while running. Amount depends on player Athletics level and Encumbrance percentage. When the player’s Fatigue level gets below certain amounts the player experiences drain effects in Speed and Agility. In other words, when the player gets tired he actually shows the effects of tiring. These effects are reversed when the player’s fatigue is restored (when the player rests – stops running, attacking, etc.). This makes Fatigue a little more of an important stat in the game, giving more meaning to fatigue-based items and more of a reason for the player to use mounts for traveling versus running everywhere.

Running burns this many points of fatigue at the stated levels of Athletics:
? Novice (0-24) – 4-6 points/second
? Apprentice (25-49) – 3-5 points/second
? Journeyman (50-74) – 2-4 points/second
? Expert (75-99) – 1-3 points/second
? Master (100+) – 0-2 points/second

Blazing Ben – A Horse (mount) that is faster than a stock black horse (essential - will not die).
? Only available if Real Fatigue is enabled
? Found near Chestnut Handy Stables, just outside of Imperial City

Gus – Uncle Cross’s little friend (recruitable & essential – will not die).
? Activating Gus, as one would activate any other NPC, will bring up his menu.
? The Slaughterfish Meat, needed to feed Gus, is only available from the slaughterfish in the retreat waters.
? Found wandering around the retreat (land and water)

Mermaids/Mermen – Recruitable NPCs that automatically grow a tail when swimming and legs when on land.
? Twelve (12) are available, randomly spawned from over 150 possibilities, per game run through. This leads to over a million (1,000,000,000) different possible combinations.
? Found wandering around the retreat (land and water)

Tuaicheal – “Cave” found in retreat world space
? Each time player enters Tuaicheal (gaelic for “confusion”), the player will be transported to 1 of 6 random locations.

CM Partners – The partner plug-ins come in two flavors (Essential/Non-essential). Non-essential versions are indicated by “NE”. Make sure you only install/select either the essential OR the non-essential version of each plug-in to use at a time. The partners are found in various inns/taverns around Tamriel.

CM Partners Decrashification – Enhanced CG User Version (optional addon) – Address some of the issues associated with using CM-based partners by adding a lesser power spell to the player's spell list that adds or deletes items and spells that partners may have, that cause many of the freezes/crashes/issues when using CM-based partners in Oblivion.
? List of issues that this addresses:

---- Share "freeze" issue - This is caused by trying to access a partner's inventory, via the "share" command, when if the partner has a bound weapon/armor spell active. Bound weapons are pretty much useless for partners, as the player usually equips partners with weapons, armor, and items as he sees fit.
---------- *Fix* - Removes all the stock bound weapon/armor spells from the partners spell list. Custom bound item spells are not and will not be added to the spell script because of the unlimited variations that can exist

---- Repair "freeze" issue - This is caused by the player commanding the partner to "repair" and the partner has equipped an enchanted item at the time of the command and does not have an armorer rating of at least "journeyman".
---------- *Fix* - Adds an ability to the partner that gives the partner an armorer rating of at least "journeyman" and a repair hammer (just in case).

---- Partner attacking player (or other partner) for no apparent reason/Player not able to give partner commands - This caused by improper partner personality/aggression assignment.
---------- *Fix* - Adds the partner to custom factions that raises the partner's disposition toward the player (and other partners) and adjusts aggression, responsibility, and confidence to proper values.

---- Partners not executing ai packages, such as eating/drinking - This is caused by the partner not having the required items in its inventory to run the packages.
---------- *Fix* - Adds the required items to the partner's inventory to execute the packages. Custom ai package items are not and will not be added to the spell script because of the unlimited variations that can exist.

? How to apply the fixes - Cast the lesser power spell, named "CM Partner Decrashification", on the partner you wish to "decrashify".
