What REALLY happened at the Battle of Red Mountain?

Hey, everyone. I realize there are a lot of conflicting viewpoints on this, especially considering all the different sources on the topic that make wildly different claims, but I was wondering what everyone here believes actually happened at the Battle of Red Mountain? Either based on what you think makes for the best story, or based on corroborating evidence. I for one find it most intriguing to imagine the Tribunal murdering Nerevar and then driving off the loyal Dagoth Ur so that they could claim the power of the heart for themselves. I don't exactly know whether this theory has a whole lot of evidence for it or not, as I'm not an expert on the subject, but I have to say I'm a fan of it just because of the cosmic irony and tragedy of it all. Nerevar is betrayed and killed by his own Councillors and then on his return has to slay the only one who stayed loyal to him at the battle because he's now gone mad. I also like the idea of the Tribunal rewriting history to make Dagoth Ur and House Dagoth out as the bad guys when in reality they were loyal and it was the tribunal themselves who truly betrayed Nerevar. Anyway, I want to hear what you all personally believe went down at Red Mountain. Whether it's based on evidence or preference, I'm interested to hear :)
