Saving

When i save oblivion it takes about 20 seconds to save all the data. Is there anything i can do to my save file without deleteing important data to make this not take as long.

This is a common problem when getting a lot of saves

try saving more often. i find that the more i do between saves, the longer it takes to save when i actually remember to.

it sounds like you're on console, as the PC has a quicksave function (F5 default). instead of making multiple saves, have one main, and one or two backups. also, go through your console's memory and delete things you dont need, like themes you dont use, games that you have no achievements on, so on and so forth.

Oh could a moderator move this too mods now

I went to my saves directory and found that every time i quicksave it quicksaves three times, one for OBSE, one for Pluggy, and one regular. And then 9 other save backup files.

I've seen suggestions in various forum threads that quicksaves are somehow "different" from normal saves, but have yet to see an explanation for how they differ. I guess what I'm wondering is if using quicksave is somehow more "dangerous" than a standard save. Is there a greater chance information will be lost or the save will become corrupted in some way particularly when using a lot of mods?

This happens with autosaves too. OBSE and pluggy are making it take much longer because it has to save three times the data. But the quicksaves are different in OBSE.
my save file quicksave regular is 2,348 and my obse is 3,411 and pluggy is 3,281 ( all KB ). They are also all different file types and the problem is they make backup copies that are around the same KB my total KB in my save folder is about 50,000 KB

Quicksaves are not always safe, because certain variables in scripts do not get reset properly.

But you can try deleting or moving some of your saves if you have a lot. I have almost 2000 and it takes me an age to save, but since I hardly play it's not a problem for me yet. I think there is a utility to make "streamsaves" which are safer than quicksaves or autosaves. It could be a utility called "Streamline" but I'm not sure.

Streamsaves take longer than quicksaves (for me anyway) so that probably wouldn't help. Is handy though, as is very configurable and has a rotating save type thign so if one corrupts you don't have to go too far back.
