Creating a good character that is fun to play and not tedious requires synergy of skills. Certain skill pairings compliment each other or make the game flow better. I will list some of my favorites. What are some of yours?
Of course there are the obvious ones:
Sneak/Illusion
Sneak/Archery
Block/One-handed
Archery/Alchemy
Smithing/Heavy or Light Armor
These are some more interesting ones:
Conjuration/Enchanting- Using bound weapons that soul trap make it easy to level enchanting
Archery/Restoration- The Guardian Circle and Circle of Protection spells are perfect defense for a non-sneak archer. Even against non-undead, the Guardian Circle will still heal you.
Alchemy/Speech- One of my favorite combos. Selling potions levels speech and allows you to take the merchant perk, which in turn allows you to sell potions to everyone. Then use the money to train alchemy.
Two-handed/Alchemy- Healing with alchemy means you don't have to put down your weapon. The sweep perk allows poison to affect more than one enemy. And there is an easy-to-make potion (fortify two-handed, resist fire) to help with dragons.
Destruction/Alchemy- Alchemy is the only way to boost damage. It also increases the range of cloak spells. Poisons make your enemies weaker to magic.
Alteration/Sneak- Detect life/dead can keep you from getting caught.
Pickpocket/Enchanting- Many people carry enchanted items which can be disenchanted to level enchanting quicker.
Block/Restoration- When using the specific item Spell-breaker, allows ward-absorb to work with the shield.
Destruction/Enchanting- Perks for frost/fire/shock in destruction also boost the power of those enchantments.
Destruction/Conjuration- Use a destruction element that matches your atronach element and you don't have to worry about friendly fire.
Conjuration/Illusion- The quiet casting perk allows you to surprise your enemies with a dremora lord.
When making a new character I always try to take advantage of some of those combos. What are your favorites and what did I miss?
