(Rel) Global Map Markers

Post » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:15 am

Well, I got this small mod done for myself mainly because I want to mark on my map which dungeons have been cleared so far, as well as putting other map notes. :)

What it does: Adds exterior map markers to all dungeons in the vanilla game, as well as Tamriel Rebuilt's latest Sacred East release. It is all in one .esp file so Tamriel Rebuilt is needed for this mod to work.

Requirements: Tamriel Rebuilt Sacred East V1.5.

To install: just unzip the file to the Data Files folder and check the mod in Data Files.

To uninstall: It's not as simple as just deleting the GlobalMapMarkers.esp. After disabling the mod, use the Update Map feature in Wrye Mash. Unfortunately, since Update Map does funny things to the world map, you would need to reset the world map. Download Morrowind Enchanted Editor and open up your save file (make sure to back up first!). Go to Player Map and delete the FMAP record. Save and play.

I feel like I am back on PES, but NO PICTURES?? :D

Seriously, I want to see what this looks like. It sounds like a pretty interesting idea. So does this mean that it adds that large square map marker to each dungeon? What about multiple dungeons in one cell? Or does this hijack the notation system?

I uploaded a screenie. It does add the large square marker to each dungeon. :)

Those with multiple dungeons in one cell are grouped together, e.g. "Sulipund & Punabi".

Envy painstakingly renamed all the exterior cells with the corresponding prominent Caves, Dwemer Ruin etc so they appear on locla map. Here's the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1503143-global-map-markers-and-wildlife/?p=23681545 with screen.

PS : Nina'd by Envy with more info :ninja:

That's a really interesting idea, Envy. And as Hollaajith said it was: that had to be grueling! I'm actually surprised, for some reason I expected every single cell on Vvardenfell to contain a dungeon. :D Did you include camps?

Thank you for sharing. I prefer not to have it announced when I enter a cell what dungeons are nearby. But it's a clever way to get something like the compass effect we have in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Most camps, yes. And nearly all landmarks are not marked on the map, including manors because they can't be "cleared".

It was gruelling, yes. But worth it as I'm a completionist. :D

And thank you :)
