PDF editor

I've been given oodles of pdf files that I need to fill out (I can print them out and handwrite it all, but I don't want to do that) and I was wondering if Adobe is worth the price or if I should just find a freebie to use. I am a student so I think I can get special pricing on Adobe, but wanted to get opinions before I drop $100. To put simply, that would money well spent to be able to just type my labs up instead of writing it out by hand, but free would be even better if that's an option!

So... opinions?

Open Office can edit them, which is free.
