No Man's Sky (Interst Check)

Thought I'd try another idea. No Man's Sky looks great and I've been really enjoying some Sci-Fi lately so perhaps we can try it out.

Same Fallout storyline except that several countries were able to find a substitute for fossil fuels. Energy Cells at first but later Microfusion Cells. Without the need for fossil fuels the world under went great changes rather quickly. Many nations that relied on the fossil fuels they sat upon fell apart and were annexed into nearby nations who were better able to navigate the changing economic climate.

Our story would start out long years later. An extended time of world wide peace led to massive over population which quickly led to other natural resources drying up. This brought on a great famine. The United Nations stepped in to deal with it, but their methods were not particularly kind. As they sought to eliminate wasteful use of resources the United Nations doomed many to starvation. Many nations moved their greatest minds toward research intended to either find a way to make synthetic replacements for the crops that had failed and hardier livestock that could survive on less nutrients...or a way to leave this planet in hopes of finding a new home for the human race.

Both of those projects ended up working. The lower caste of society was left on Earth, primarily to ensure the crops grow and the new livestock flourish, while the upper and middle castes were sent out to populate new worlds and establish an interplanetary government.

I figure we could either do a nice Star Wars rebellion vs empire kind of thing...or perhaps just have us all working for the Empire searching out new planets. We could use classic science fiction works as inspiration and perhaps have each of us come up with a planet to visit and a storyline for that planet.

I'd want one or two people to join up as essentially Co-GMs, those people could have characters and also make decisions while I'd try to avoid having a character, or at least try to avoid having a long term character.

Anyone interested? Anyone want to share ideas for places or plotlines to persue?

So let me get this straight, does this take place after the Great War, during a time where the world has picked itself back up. Or an alternative timeline where the War never accumulated to that point.

Either way I like making wacky ideas and concepts. If my Fan Lore is any indication. So I don't mind lending a hand there. But until I know my RP schedule is open I don't think I can join.

Oh I don't think it'll be starting for some time. The idea is pretty much half-formed. It's a time where the War never happened. Alternate Fuels developed enough that the Oil shortages never pulled the world into war.

I'd like to use it as an opportunity to fiddle about in a fun environment while also sort of reliving some of my favorite stories while introducing them to others.

Alright, I think I understand better. I can help you flush it out if you want. For a bit though I thought this was a Bioshock Infinite crossover. I still think that would be cool.
