Enchanting for color - a pretty bow is a good bow

Post » Mon Sep 01, 2014 5:11 am

We know that weapon enchantments impart an aura of color to the weapon. My character wants a green bow – she can easily do this by enchanting it with damage stamina. Although effectiveness of the enchantment ranks way below how pretty it looks on the weapon, I wonder what some of the other possibilities for enchanting a green bow are. Wouldn’t mind also having soul trap or fire or such in addition, but having the green aura is a must.

I’m looking for ideas/possibilities. I don’t know, for example, if you put two enchantments on a weapon, is the color/aura determined by which goes on last/first or perhaps by the stronger magnitude of the two enchantments?

The Paralysis enchantment. Good aura and very useful.

I think the colour is determined by the fist enchantment placed on the weapon. So if you enchant it with fire damage and soul trap your weapon will still be red for the fire damage and not purple for a mix of the two. Don't quote me now I could be wrong on which enchantment determines the colour, could be the first could be the last BUT I do know that you can't get the colours to mix. Sadly

The color of the item (glow) will be determined by the first enchantment you chose.

Here are the colors you get for each weapon enchantment:

Blue (Dark)
  • Absorb Magicka
  • Damage Magicka
  • Fear
  • Turn Undead
Blue (Light)
  • Fortify Shouts
  • Frost Damage
  • Resist Frost
Green
  • Absorb Stamina
  • Damage Stamina
  • Paralyze
  • Silent Moons Enchant
Orange
  • Fire Damage
Purple (Dark)
  • Shock Damage
Purple (Light)
  • Soul Trap
Red
  • Absorb Health
  • Banish
