ADORE!

Making characters. All sorts. From stupidly attractive to plain looking to hideous, I love taking pictures of them, then erasing the game. I never play them. I develop backstories, write them down, then just never do anything with them. I irritate the crap out of my husband because he'll say, "Oh, starting another game?"

"Nope, just making another character."

"...why?"

"Because I enjoy it."

"You're not gonna play it?"

"Nope."

"That's a waste of two hours."

To which I promptly yell it's "an hour and forty minutes, thankyouverymuch" and continue to make the character. -shrugs- I like doing it. Anyone else?

I will never admit to spending an entire Day in character creation between serious characters. As a PC User, new Mods make the condition worse

Yeah, the addiction is a lot worse with mods. haha
I've made 2 characters today and both took about 90 minutes.... each...

I enjoy creating characters and coming up with RP stories for them to do or backgrounds but I can't just create characters over and over. I pour to much intent to play into making them. I find if I just make characters just "because" then I never really give it a good shot you know.

And mods do make that hard to resist lol

Ugh. No. I hated how I had to use that galling vanilla character creation menu for 90 minutes to be able to make anything even remotely similar to what I had in mind.

Character creation is my favorite mini-game.

I can spend hours browsing through different appearances and looking at different races. I'm always finding combinations of hairs and faces I've never seen before. Sometimes one of these appearances is so striking that it suggests an entire back story. I'll feel compelled to ask myself, "Who is this person? How did she get this scar? What is her story?" And, before I know it, I have a whole new game planned out!

I also like to make temporary characters. I've made several characters in Oblivion, just to go through the tutorial dungeon. When I get to the sewer exit I delete them....and then I make another one!

I just wish you didn't need to finish your character's appearance before you start playing. It's agravating that you have to choose between getting your character to look the way you want or starting playing. I'd like to start then fiddle with it as I go along.

I collect characters. I make faces and stories to go with them. Sometimes I go on to play with the character, and sometimes I just save them and make another.

It's not as addictive for me in Skyrim, because the face creation system is more limited. In Oblivion, where you have full-on slider control of everything (and tricky at that), you can make almost any sort of face if you have the patience. In that game, I collect faces, even if stories don't occur to me. I save the faces, and if a story eventually occurs to me, I import the face and play the character.

And, yes, I will sometimes sit there and make two or three characters in a row. I find it fun. I find it the most creative part of the process of roleplaying.

Likewise, I spend way more time in Oblivion's character creation.

I do spend a decent chunk of time in the character creation when making a character, but I won't spend a lot of time if I'm not going to play them.

I tend to make my characters in a "bulk", Wulvar, Duncan, Kaiser, Gregor and Berret were made in the same sitting. Luro, Sorgis, Gilliam, Fife and Ein were made in another sitting, and so on, the ones I make in a bulk tend to intertwine with each other in their stories.

After creation the characters I use the console commands to get them their Roleplaying outfits and weapons and "Park" them in the location I'm going to start the RP, and then chose who I want to RP as.

Honestly, your husband sounds daft. I would love it if my wife played Skyrim, even if she was only making characters.

I do it all the time. It can take me 45+ minutes just to make one AND come up with a name. I've got dozens of characters that have never left Helgen.
