Screenshot Guidelines ( MUST READ BEFORE POSTING! ):
(Thanks to bashur and Matthew Kaine(?) for the original versions of this set of guidelines over in the Oblivion Mods section )

  • No criticism should be directed at a person - only constructive criticism at the posters work
    • How you should not post criticism: "That screenshot is really lame! The poster needs to learn how to screenshot!"
    • How you should post criticism: "I'm not really a fan of that screenshot; In my opinion it could use a little more flair. Maybe try to have the angle at a diagonal slant with the sun behind them, that will give them a nice silhouette."
  • If you find a post offensive, REPORT IT !
    • Moderators know to to quickly deal with any situation of this nature, and will remove any offensive posts.
    • Arguing, instigating, or making demands regarding the post invariably ends up worsening the situation.
    • Not following the above rules could result in all involved parties getting a warning, even those defending themselves.
  • Commenting on a posters style of play in screenshots:
    • Members have a wide variety of playing styles and of capturing screenshots.
    • No subjective (or moral, ethnic, political, religious, cultural, social, sixual, etc.) preferences should be dictated to others as right or wrong in this thread.
    • All members are encouraged to post their screenshots regardless of their style of play, as long as they stay within the rules of this forum and thread.

Messages from the Moderators regarding this thread
"If someone barrels in and decides that the opening post guidelines for this thread are not applicable to them,
just report them, don't bother responding. Criticism for screenshots is fine, as long as it's constructive.
"I think it's stupid" and comments of that ilk? Are not criticism. They're just rather belligerant.
Don't like a particular screenshot - then don't bloody comment." - Leydenne

We will then take the appropriate action to cull the situation and remove the problem." - DreadLord

"If you don't care for a particular screenshot, you do not need to comment on it. If you have constructive feedback, that is fine. And people receiving polite feedback, don't get your back up.

But just because you don't like some of the looks, or feel they show too much skin, or whatever, as long as they do not break our forum rules, you'll have to restrain yourself. Sorry- no one cares if you don't like the skimpy shots. Sure, some of them may be over the top or whatever, or simply not to one's taste, but again- if they do not break our screenshot rules, then they are fine.

Post screenshots that are pretty, that are fun, or funny or scenic. Be kind to each other. Or don't bother with the thread."- Leydenne

Tips (under development)

Camera Tips (for basic screenshots without a third-party program):

Spoiler

  • Press F on your keyboard to switch back and forth from first, to third-person view
  • Press and hold F to change the camera angle by moving your mouse around. This will rotate the camera around your character.
    • A side-to-side mouse movement will rotate the camera around your player
    • A forwards-backwards mouse movement will tilt the camera angle above or below your character
    • The mouse scroll wheel will move the camera closer or farther away
  • You can equip your weapon and/or cast a spell in this position as long as you continue to hold F
  • Press the "Print Screen" or "Prt Scr" button at any time to take your shot.
    • Be careful not to take them too close together or you'll accidentally capture the "screen shot created" message in your shot if your UI is still enabled (see below).

How to disable the UI (Stats Bars, Compass, etc):

  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TM
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • Your UI (User Interface) should now be gone
    • To re-enable your UI, type TM in the console again using the steps above

How to enable Free-Flying Camera mode:

  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TFC
  • OR type TFC 1 to pause the action and enable the free camera.
  • CAUTION: Animations and gametime passage may be suspended with TFC 1, but script functions are not. Scripts may still trigger events even while the actors or props they manipulate are still frozen.
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • You can then move the camera around using the same keys you would normally use to move your character.
    • To go back to normal, type TFC in the console again using the steps above
  • To change the speed in which the freecam moves, use the console command SUCSM (x), where (x) is the speed multiplier. Default appears to be about 10, which may be unwieldy.

How to panrotate camera while walking:

  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type ANIMCAM
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • You can now rotate the camera around your character while walking/fighting etc.
    • To go back to normal, type ANIMCAM in the console again using the steps above

How to Disable the AI of any Creature/NPC:

Spoiler

  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TAI
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • Entering the command while no actor is selected will cause all actors to stand at idle (but still have idle animation).
  • Using while an actor is selected will freeze them in-place.
  • To return to normal, type TAI in the console again, and press enter.

How to remove Collision from your Character (Clipping):

Spoiler

  • Open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard
    • This key is located next to your "1" key, above your "TAB" key, and usually below your "ESC" key
    • This will bring up the console, you'll notice a place at the bottom left of your screen where you are now able to type
  • Type TCL
  • Press ENTER
  • Then close the console by pressing "~" again
  • To return to normal, type TCL in the console again, and press enter

How to post your screenshots

Spoiler

  • Upload to an image hosting site. There are many popular options for doing so, including a built-in service with Steam. Per asgard: From steam's screenshot manager, you simply select a pic, then hit the upload button. Then you click on 'View online library'where you can manage all your uploaded pics.
  • Copy the URL for your image. The image hosting site you choose usually has a box with code to pick from. You'll want to get the code that refers to BBCode, and a direct URL. Do not bother with getting BBCode Image coding, as this forum does not support embedded images in posts.
  • When you post your screenshot, it's often nice to include some flavor text, rather than just posting an undescriptive URL.
  • The best way to do that is to type out the following: [ url = " TYPE YOUR URL HERE " ] TYPE NAME HERE [ / url ](without spaces)

How to swap out animations (pre CK, PC only)

Spoiler

  • Until pose mods come out, this method is the best option for making your character do things that NPCs can do!
  • You'll need a .bsa extractor. I (Eisoj5) am using a Fallout3 extractor for the time being, but there are more options out there.
  • Open the Skyrim - Animations.bsa file in your .bsa extractor. The animations for character and NPCs are located in themeshes\actors\character\animationsfolder within that file.
  • Extract the animations you want to play with. I (Eisoj5) have a separate folder for all the random stuff I like to mess with/add to Skyrim, so I put them in that folder.
  • Rename the animation you want to use ingame to sneakmtidle.hkx .
  • Copy your new sneakmtidle.hkx to Skyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\animations. (You will have to create these subfolders if they do not already exist in your directory.)
  • In game, simply press the sneak button and your swapped animation should begin to play! Keep in mind this is only when you're sneaking and not moving. Moving will return to the regular sneak motion animation.
  • To get back to the normal sneak idle animation, just delete sneakmtidle.hkx fromSkyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\animations.

Lighting Tips (courtesy of UKnightwatch)

Spoiler

To avoid bad lighting, I try to;

  • Not have a bright light directly behind subject
  • Not have a very bright light too close to front of subject
  • Not aim camera directly at a bright light
  • Turn my character into good lighting
  • Make good use of character items such as torch or spells that cast light and such if available

On PC;

Make use of the 'tfc' feature to move the camera accordingly to avoid bad lighting - see begining of this thread

I realise we are not all super smart when it comes to using art packages on PC (points at self as example of dimness) and we do not all have access to professional software - this has its problems.

If you are using a PC, there are some free to download image manipulating programs available - your search engine is your friend! Free software can be very basic but that is all we need. A little time taken to learn the basics of such free programs can pay off really well and bring our screenshots [more] to life.

Using FOV
Spoiler

FOV, or "field-of-view/vision", can help you zoom in for even better close-up shots.

  • Open the console using the ` key.
  • Type fov ##, where lower numbers equal a tighter zoom and higher numbers a wide angle. Close the console.
  • The game is preset to fov 65. FOVs lower than 50 are great for close-ups, but can be hard to frame if your TFC speed is high.
  • To get back to your normal setting, open the console and type either just fov again or fov 65.

MOD SUGGESTION

Spoiler

Here's a small list of mods to make your screenshots more interesting and actractive

  • http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10870: This mod brings you a figurines allowing you to control yourself, and a special spell that can turn any NPC into brainless puppet doing any animation you want.
  • http://mod.dysintropi.me/mods/skyrim/ Pinup style poses for your female character... or your male, if you're into that sort of thing (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11811 needed for the mod to work)
  • http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=11757: Removes most of the blurriness from finisher moves and reduce the number of camera cuts in most moves
  • http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=7942: Removes drop of blood from screen
  • http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22745: Adds footprints to the player, NPCs, and creatures
  • http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19660: Adds a snowy visual effect to the player and NPCs when snow is falling. Effects all live and deceased NPCs and wildlife with-in a set radius.
  • http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5164: When drawing an arrow, the arrowhead rests on the hand of all places. Unless you like having a sliced up hand, resting an arrow's head on your hand while it's nocked and drawn is a bad idea.

You may find these guide useful: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19362, http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17837 so you won't be lost in all those awesome animations and poses

Dragonborn and Dawnguard pictures can be posted in here.

The Missing Part 1

She awoke to a http://share.pho.to/73OqW/i9/original. Alexa was used to men staring at her because she was unusually attractive. But this man was different. He didn't seem to have hidden intentions, he was genuinely nice. Ralof was his name. Along with them in the carriage were a horse thief from Rorikstead and Ulfric Stormcloak, the leader of the rebellion, himself. The thick fog could not obscure the terrible feeling in the air that something dreadful awaited them at the end of the ride.

Her two older brothers hadn't been heard from in over 9 months and that had the family very worried. Alexa was very close to her brothers and looked up to them. They had taught her to hunt, fight and forge weapons. She saw herself to be more like one of the guys even though her looks would betray how she felt. Her latest lead, in her quest to find her missing siblings, led her to the province of Skyrim where she was caught in an Imperial Legion ambush.

"This is wrong, I shouldn't be here!" she repeated over and over again in her head as she watched http://share.pho.to/73Os8/in/original. "Next, the Nord in the rags!" the Imperial Captain called out. "No, I won't submit and die like this. I'm taking that [censored] out if it's the last thing I do!" Alexa said to herself. She had a plan that would require some quick timing, agility and a lot of pure luck. But luck and her skills were all the hope she could cling to now.

Suddenly, http://share.pho.to/73Otp/kh/original landed and interrupted the proceedings unleashing chaos and destruction. With help from Ralof, she escaped into Helgen keep while their captors were overwhelmed. Together, they overcame Imperial soldiers, giant spiders and a bear to finally reach a way out of Helgen. The handsome Stormcloak soldier suggested that it would be http://share.pho.to/73OvD/js/original for now but Alexa had hope their paths would cross again soon. She made her way towards Falkreath and got rid of the Stormcloak armor to avoid attracting any more unwanted attention.

And so began Alexa's search in Skyrim. http://share.pho.to/73Owc/ct/original

Trying this again then from a non "tinypic"

I present to the community, Vinga Shattersword, my newely created Swordmaiden, a typical sellsword who runs errands and taking on mercenary like contracts. Her loyalty lies to the highest bidder for her services. Her main skills are Heavy armor, two handed weapons, Block and Restoration.. But she is good on one handed as well. Archery, not so good but she is getting there

A woman who likes steel, my kinda lady

Just a couple form me today, spent more time questing then I did snapping screen shots last night. I grew board of Oz and Eowyn, they where pretty much the exact same builds from my Xbox versions. Ya know....same old, same old. So I decided to try something new, never did really play as a spell caster, never really did mess around with magic in general. Soooooooooooooo........

( all screen shots are night time shots, the reason will become evident as you look at my screen shots  )

I really like the moths shot.

Great start, and as others have said she is cute.

Wow that is a lot of blood on her... did she cut her way out of a dragons stomach? :D

Beautiful night time shots, and he does look like a terminator.

Hi everyone, nice screenshots! I went back to catch up from #136.

Garrus, I am sorry to hear that you lost all of your characters. :(

I have been having internet problems for a while now. I could not upload anything because it was very slow. My ISP finally sent a tech to fix it, so now I am able to post screenshots again. Turned out it was a broken wire where it entered the house.

Having no clue where he was or what had happened after his fall he sat up and noticed he was in a tent whenhttp://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579587710/65CE0B53871D4BEEEA02326F4C5FB0E605EBAD9C/.

"Arissa!" Jak jumped up excited to see her, "Where are we what happened in the cave?"

"Jak you should probably sit down and rest you may not be fully healed." Jak objected and reassured her he was fine and so she continued, "Okay, well after you fell I didn't know what to do so I somewhat panicked and I didn't know what was at the bottom of that pit... and so I jumped. I figured it was the only way out and I wanted to make sure you were okay. I don't know what happened, but you must have hit the water head first because you were out cold when I landed in the water, so I grabbed you pulled you out of the water. We were in like a giant cave or something and there was a dwarven lift to the surface so I dragged you to that and when we got to the surface I had no idea what to do with you out cold."

Jak nodded along as she continued,http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579588367/EE2884432C999C193C80E0652FA141C295E8BC83/

"But you are an Imperial, how did they let you into the camp?"

"I have a way with words." She smiled, "I told them we were attacked by Imperials and they believed me and here we are."

Jak was amazed by what he had missed and Arissa's courage in saving him and so after thanking her he decided they should leave the camp and head to Solitude, but not before thanking the Stormcloak general for his hospitality.

http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579588917/5F1AACE97A0DE582C40091FB573459E6807ADB48/

So with that the two left the camp and headed back to Solitude to complete the jobs they were given by Vex and Delvin. http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579589761/DE720724A848EF5B4F721856DF1505048F5D6AFF/and headed to the Winking Skeever to wait for nightfall, they grabbed a table and ordered some food and drink.

"So how are you feeling? You know, after all that happened and killing the man who betrayed your family, are you alright?"

"I'm okay, it's good to know justice may finally prevail."

"That's good." Jak paused for a second, http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579590735/F9E0225B28C83EBFFE2CD5957168F5BB7B02544E/

Jak nodded and Arissa began to explain her life long story of how her family owned a rich farm with a bunch of land and how her family would be paid for supplies for the Imperials and the Aldmeri Dominion. Then, after some time a Thalmor by the named Vidric came to their farms in hopes of buying the land, but her father refused and so Vidric sent the man they had just killed named Gunnher to pose as Stormcloaks who would protect them from the Thalmor.

"Of course, Gunnher and his men did nothing but cause trouble and one night I followed one of Gunnher's men to this farmer's house where he started demanding bread and ale. Then he tried to touch the farmer's wife and..."

"Things got ugly." Jak finished her thought.

http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579592752/FF8E230AF3D46B8C4BA4D39462AE14C2018C8C87/ I ran as fast as I could to hide as the rest of the people from our land gathered at the house demanding answers for what had happened. I couldn't let it go on any longer so I stepped forward and told the truth about my father accepting aid from the Stormcloaks so he could keep the land... but this was all part of Vidric's plan and he had Gunnher, his men, and my family arrested and then he seized our land claiming imperial right."

"I'm really sorry, Arissa. That sounds horrible. Why didn't they arrest you?"

"They tried, but I fled to Skyrim and became a wanderer from village to village. I was raised to be a nobleman's daughter, but ended up a cutpurse. I had lost everything that was dear to me and it was all my fault."

"You can't blame yourself for what happened."

"Me?"

"Yes, you have shown me what it is like to have a purpose again, and to help those who need it, so thank you Jak."

The two ate their food and drank their drinks and before they knew it night had fallen. They left the Winking Skeever and made their way to the house they needed to rob; Jak asked Arissa to wait outside and keep a look out while he went inside, so he picked the lock and entered the house. The golden ship was nowhere to be found downstairs so Jak quietly went up the stairs andhttp://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579595394/660CBEC62127EFD8A6E67F9611264294D842D16D/ He moved slowly and steadily and http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579596103/0610EA3284B0E8B4EC9CDA53400D23D312F4AECF/ and then made his way out of the house. With Vex's job done all they needed to do was steal 500 golds worth of items, and Arissa wanted to be risky and convinced Jak to go to the Blue Palace and steal what they needed there. They arrived at the Blue Palace and Arissa commented how she felt under dressed and felt she needed something more radiant. Guards were posted all along the entrance and so Arissa distracted the guards with playful banter and Jak was able to sneak by, he went from room to room and stole potions and coin purses and eventually met his goal. He returned to Arissa and she said goodbye to the guards who appeared lovestruck by her and the two left without any trouble, and http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/538500289579596914/07481581E00F2C87A670D33225C8666D03EFAD79/

Sorry I didn't take any pictures at Blue Palace I tried to get the guards to surround Arissa but it wouldn't work, and sorry for the long backstory for her, she actually says all of that, and I even somewhat paraphrased what she said.

Here are some more moments of Marie Motierre's adventure:

Frodnar with his dear uncle Ralof as they attempt to escape Helgen. I had actually forgotten that Ralof was there when I went in with Frodnar. Guy didn't seem to mind that his own nephew was in the absolute *last* place a child needed to be in.

When we escaped, Alduin flew off. I knew I had to take some pictures of him before he left, so hitting TM and TFC2, I took these pictures.

I had forgotten this part, so to entertain myself, I just jumped up and down on the stump behind Ralof. Hod and my doppelganger seemed to be more interested in my randomness than Ralof telling the story of the near-execution and the dragon attack.

Sadly, doing this had caused Frodnar to no longer be my companion. I role-played that Ralof thought the boy had seen MORE than enough to last a lifetime, so I recruited dear ol' Sven and donned him in steel armor.

Frodnar now guards Riverwood with his mighty torch and...his dog that can apparently straddle ropes.

Spoiler
Remade Ysgrette by looking at an image of her on my phone. I think she's almost identical to the original version.

I'd imagine you stared at her long enough before you lost her to remember what she looked like :P

Great pics everyone.

Nice update dmel15. I've been intentionally avoiding Solitude with Kha'tryna because she fears imperials will arrest her on sight again and she doesn't remember why the arrested her the first time still.

Sorry to hear you lost interest already in your two characters carrots but I know exactly where your coming from. After a while its hard to find creative ways to keep older familiar builds interesting.
