I am almost close to reaching level 100 in sneaking and eventually archery. I know you can make skills legendary, but what does making a skill legendary actually do and is it good to do so. I understand that when a skill is made legendary, it resets all perk points for that skill tree. I don't know why this is good since I will be satisfied with the perks I have. One benefit I can think of from this is that leveling up the skill tree again helps in leveling up your character.

Also, does making a skill legendary carry the extra damage and bonuses from the previous tree and adds that to your character like it is natural so you can add additional damage to it with the new tree?

The only benefit in that idiotic feature is that you again gain character XP from that skill. That's it. No other benefit.

If you're on PC I highly recommend the uncapper for a much more natural leveling experience. Simply keep leveling above 100!

I use legendary and the uncapper for different things.

Legendary for level cap increase. Uncapper to control stats per level up.

Uncapper is awesome.

In addition to going above the level cap you have the ability to increase your health, magika and stamina when you level up.
