Resolution and textures question

Post » Fri Sep 12, 2014 12:30 pm

With 1920x1080 on a 24" monitor, I can actual see the marks where the leather armour got sewn together rather than a flat X on the overall background colour of the texture.

Would this change with a resolution of 1600x900 or something else to keep the ratio as good as possible?

What I noticed:

It does not have these sharp edges of objects (I don't see this as a negative).

It also gives you a more narrowed down field of view.

Do higher resolution textures still make sense with a lower screen resolution?

With other games, I always used SMAA (overwritten game settings with RadeonPro if needed) to smudge the edges of objects and not get this artificial feeling. In Skyrim ENB does this job (the graphics are distorted if I use both tools) and I haven't actual checked this:

I tried lots of stock ENB and had a hard time to find one that actual works with night vision and detect life auras, since this is essential for my gameplay. This also only worked with this one 100% after I changed its source code to let the game change the colour palette. Nobody out there looks after the sneaky guys :(

One actual question:

Are textures related to the games resolution or the monitors size?

I'm on a 1920x1080 screen resolution using my 42" tv as a monitor and I got to say the details are very crisp and I can also see individual stitching on clothing, rivets on armor and so forth. That's my screen resolution and Skyrim options resolution using an Nvidia GeForce 660ti graphics card.

I don't think the size of the monitor effects your resolution, you should be able to run visual settings high despite the actual size of your screen.

I'm using an unreleased preset of Grim and Somber enb and I know Nighteye (vampire and khajiit) work just fine with it. So depending on the visual experience your looking for in an enb you might want to check nexus for the grim and somber series enbs and see if they suit your tastes.

Thanks for the tip

Going to backup and try this evening.

I have no performance issue, just wonder if I could make things so I don't have to move my head around to look from left to right. I would rather have bigger detailed models than a wider field of view.

That is wrong explained, if I am in 1st it should show big stuff with detailed textures?

Wow, that is dark ^^ But I have my overall settings to dark...

Aura and night vision works:

How do I get rid of the letterbox and this aweful sun beam? I'll investigate...

you must have some sort of fps counter going, that's what the numbers are. as for sunbeam stuff. there should be an option to turn it off. Depending on the enb I think shift+enter bring up the settings and options panel for the enb. You should be able to change the sunbeam, sun particle effects and so on.
