So one of the quotes I like from Todd Howard is "This is the best entertainment medium for the audience to choose how they immerse themselves." This was in reference to open world environments and game play setting and its appeal and growth. I couldn't agree more and it gave me the inspiration to post this suggestion. People love their android devices (and their Apple counterparts) and can't put them down. With all the growth of interconnectivity and clouds service and now with pc hardware the resurgent of Home Cloud. And with all the innovation of gaming interfaces such as Occulus Rift and Xbox's 360's Kinects, wouldn't the Fallout lore, it's plotline and gameplay mechanics provide the best setting to connect the android device as a controller for the Fallout game. What do I mean? Think about EA's Deadspace and how it was one of the first (as least the most successful) to introduce real time immersive on screen inventory management. So the game is not paused and inventory management would take time and have dire consequences being as its setting as a horror that was very integral I would say to the Dead Space branding. Well we have something very integral to the Fallout universe, the Pipboy! Wouldn't it be great if you had the pipboy in real life. Well you could! Everyone and their cat have an android device (it's an exaggeration ok!) and both Obsidian and Bethesda have lauded the 64 bit and its subsequent increase in allocation to RAM. Couldn't you spool to memory a connection via a local ip from the Android to the in game mechanics? The Android app either free or for a insignificant fee would act as the pipboy in realtime with its design being exactly like the fallout lore with the old school dot matrix graphical map, inventory back pack and real time stat and perk management. If the connection was active the gameplay wouldn't have to show the animation of the arm holding the pipboy on the wrist, though that was a very cool innovation and iconic. After 100 hrs of gameplay the animation becomes ever annoying or so much so that it's not even committed to memory. The map and swapping armor or weapon would be real time and the game wouldn't pause making exploration more rewarding because now you have a new option to how you immerse yourself in the Fallout Lore. It would also provide a very cool promotional tool. The Collector's Edition would include a rubberized wrist band that has a mould to hold the android device on your wrist in the shape of a pipboy. The android screen would serve as the screen on the pipboy. I know whether this would be feasible to implement or not is in doubt but it is worth a discussion here on this forum at the very least.
Edit: It'd be like the Wii U and its dual screen basically.
