Lore

Today after spending several hours researching lots of wiki pages for Lore I return a changed man, with several questions of course.

1. What determines an era, why does the 3rd Era end at year 433, is it because the emperor decided this or what?

2. Does Oblivion start only 5 yrs after the end of Morrowinds expansions?

3. What else should I know about if im looking to write many historically accurate fan fics?

Heres what im pretty accurate on already

-All events in which a mysterious hero does something is when you are playing the game.
- Events in the 4th Era, and 3rd Era
- Daedric Worship, Nines, Ascension ( However not the creation of Nirn, or Mundus)
- Weeks, Months

I know I will need to read up on 2nd and 1st Era as these play a huge role in the creation of the empire.Plan to do that on Vacation.

Yup. The potentate started the second Era. Septim the 3th.

Yea, 5 or 6, check the timeline on TIL.

For your Era questions and whatnot, click http://www.imperial-library.info/history/. That should sum up what you want to know, more or less.

Your questions seem particularly concerned with dates and the flow of time. When you read the timeline you might want to note the "Dragon Break" in 1E1200-1E2208. It is some sort of non-linear time event that Tamriel "sleeps" through. I'm sure the lore-masters around here know much more and there's two books at TIL: [topic="http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/dragonbroke_ex.shtml"]here [/topic]and [topic="http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/dragonbroke.shtml"]here[/topic]. But it might help if you're trying to keep an accurate chronology.

...then again, from what I'm learning, it might not be *possible* to keep an accurate linear chronology in Tamriel.

feld the confused

edit: added links to the two books.
