Help with new console

Post » Fri Sep 19, 2014 3:27 pm

I just got a PS4 and have some basic questions. Does anybody use standby mode or should I just power it off completely? Also, do you actually quit games or do you have to go to the dashboard and close the application? If you don't close the applications manually, is it safe to power down or will the console auto close all of them after shutting down? Thanks in advance.

1- I just shut it down. Did it with my PS3, so I'm used to it.
2- You can do both. I just go the dashboard and remove the disc. Everything will close on its own if it shuts down.

Thanks. Is it ok to leave a disc in or do you always remove it before powering down?

Stand by mode is mostly used to recharge the controller if you don't have recharge station or if your unit is downloading updates and you don't want to shut it off completely. I always take out my disk when I'm through with them to keep them from getting scratched.

We left Battlefield 4 in there for about 3 months since most of our games were digital. Disc was fine. I personally remove them.

Thanks guys. If the system is powered off will plugging in the controller to charge it boot the console into standby mode?

I'm going to have a lot of questions so bare with me lol. I like to see how the console is handled and how I should handle it.
