Heavy Shield with Light Armor Character?

Anyone use a heavy shield with a light armor build? Working on a sword/shield build and I like some of the spiked heavy armor shields from Immersive Armors for her.... looks great with the Highwayman Mail... and big downside to using just 1 piece of Heavy Armor if I only plan on spec’ing light armor & block?

Heavy shields are designed to take more hits due to the weight of one's armour. Using a heavy shield with light gear seems redundant as you rely on speed to take down your enemy when using light armour. It could however be quite fun.

If you're asking whether it could still be effective or not, then maybe; the block perks could be enough. If you're asking whether or not it's consistent... I think not.

Depends on how you are leveling your character. If you're trying for well-rounded development, then you need to get heavy armor points, & using a heavy armor shield when you're working on your block is a good way to do it. You don't have to pick the heavy armor perks, you can just gain experience with the skill, which will improve your performance while wearing it.

Say your character is at level 55, & he's maxed out at light armor, so leveling up is hard to do. So you switch to wearing heavy armor, which is still at level 15. All your enemies have leveled up, & you are going to be at a serious disadvantage when you fight them.

I tend to go for well-rounded characters, myself.
