A lot of people like to speculate about future TES games. Well... I have a speculation that not many people have probably thought about.
You may have noticed that every Elder Scrolls game in the main series (side series' excluded) always have at least one "Pain in the Ass" quest. These quests aren't really "hard," per se; they're just boring, tedious, often lack a sense of direction, and are generally just an all-around pain in the ass.
But, you do these quests, either because they provide really good rewards, are an essential part of a major questline, or otherwise, just for the sake of completion.
Strangely enough, nearly every "pain in the ass" quest has had a different premise. Sure, many involve collecting things, but what are you collecting?
In Skyrim, it was "No Stone Unturned," a quest which you aimed to complete because the number of gems you found as a quest reward was simply astounding.
In Morrowind, there were a painful series of quests in the Main Questline where you had to seek approval of the four Dunmer Houses, mostly requiring you to just be the leaders' errand boy. Sure, there was some dungeon delving, but the PREMISE was a pain in the ass!
In Arena, the "pain in the ass" quest was Labyrinthian. That dungeon made a return in Skyrim, but it was heavily nerfed down and much, much less of a pain in the ass.
Oblivion actually had THREE pain-in-the-ass quests! "Vampirism Cure," "Seeking Your Roots," and, with the Knights of the Nine DLC, we had "Pilgrimage."
So, what do you think will be the premise behind TES6's "pain in the ass" quest? We know it will have at least one, because EVERY Elder Scrolls game has at least one! And since Bethesda always tries to have a different premise for each one, it has to be different form any that's come before it!
So... does anyone have any speculation?
