Got bored: Got a mod recommendation?

Post » Tue Oct 07, 2014 7:57 pm

I started over countless times by now, did the same quests over and over. That's how I take the fun out of most RPGs btw. I am never satisfied with my character or group of characters and so after spending many hours on the game I start over... and over...

My highest character currently is 18, I guess. I've been playing in hardcoe. hardcoe does not add a whole lot imo. I just killed Caesar, freed Benny and it appears like I am almost at the end of the main story. I haven't done the DLC parts so far.

The level cap is 50, so I'd have expected even the main story line would take me a little farther than I am.

Are there any decent mods you can recommend, that can extend the interest in the game a little?

If you find hardcoe mode a little tame, I'd thoroughly recommend JE Sawyer's mod. Not only does it increase the rates of starvation/ dehydration but it also fixes a number of issues in the game, adds different armours and enemies in additional locations. It's excellent.

Happy Widow Power Fists will make your unarmed combat far more enjoyable, More Perks for more roleplay stuff, Beyond Boulder Dome for adventure and Millenia's weapons for shiny guns.

Thanks. I installed JE's mod and think I'll try a more RPG approach, with less combat orientation, more towards an RPG approach. My current guy has more charisma and int and less agility and strength. So he won't be able to get all the combat perks I usually want. That should give me some more room to choose RPG play related perks.

There are probably a bunch of quests you missed. The first time I played NV I went for the independent ending and ignored McCarran, Nelson, Boomers quests, companion quests, every companion has a backstory and often a quest(line). I also missed the BoS quests and all the quests that you only get by travelling to a certain location, like Searchlight.

In my second playthrough I most side activities and I reached level 45, about 200 hours played (I usually walk instead of run) and with still 2 DLC to go. So if you get bored you might want to go to a location you see in the distant and start talking to NPCs.

I like to walk as well and not to use fast travel that much if at all. It just makes the game feel much larger also I never run in real life and if I do it is likely under 50 meters. I usually only do the running when in a combat situation such as going from one cover to another.

I walk as well (unless it's appropriate to run) and don't use fast travel. It's not for everyone though...

mods like AWOP add a lot of explorable areas to the game. also mods by the creator someguy are usually pretty lengthy and are well made with voice acting. project nevada and FOOK are both great mods and work together if you use convergence. new vegas bounties which was linked above is pretty good too.(there are new vegas bounties 2 and 3 but imo aren't as good as the original.) sometimes just jumping on the fallout nexus page and looking at the latest/hottest mods plus the mods of the recent months can give you some good stuff to download.
