Typical Khajiit Lifespan

Post » Tue Oct 07, 2014 6:43 pm

I know the typical lifespan of Elven species can reach up to 1000 years, and that man races live around 60-80 years old, but what of the Khajiit? And even the Argonians? Based off of lore such as the Khajiit creation myth, Bosmer, and Khajiit are relatively close as two races, as evident by the Ohmes breed of Khajiit. Which may mean they have similar lifespans, but do you think it would vary depending on the breed of Khajiit as well? Do you think they may actually have similar life spans?

"Elves live two to three times as long as humans and the “beast-races” (Orcs, Khajiiti, Argonians). A 200-year-old Elf is old; a 300-year-old Elf is very, very old indeed. Anyone older than that has prolonged his or her lifespan through powerful magic."

^A handful of salt quote there should be taken with that quote right there. We have encountered quite a few characters of no magical inclination (save for offensive abilities) and relatively poor standing who claim to be around high end of that range and look no worse for wear. The miner in Darkwater crossing has said he's been in the business for centuries, and the swordsman Teldryn Sero met Saint Jiub in person, which puts him well over two-hundred years of age. Neither of them appear to be that old at all, so I'm not entirely convinced that the quote is accurate.

OT, I suspect that Khajiit are comparable to humans all in all, save for the odd sub-species or two. Same might be said of Argonians, but that seems to depend on what kind of connection they have to the Hist.

Er, quoting from Wikia's is normally not a great idea, unless you dig around for the citations themselves If you must, UESP at least tries to be consistent by in large (again, citing the sources it uses is better), but first hand sources from in-game is generally preferred.

They reference the book, "The Real Barenziah, Book II" as the quotes reference.

"Katisha's face briefly wore the envious, wistful look humans got when contemplating the thousand-year lifespan Elves had been granted by the gods. True, few ever actually lived that long as disease and violence took their respective tolls. But they could. And one or two of them actually did". - The Real Barenziah, Book II

Lots of different sources say different things. It gets complicated when 2 developer-written sources contradict eachother, which appears to be the case with the real barenziah vs ESO lore answers. I'd say that, with what we've seen in the single player games, the 1000-year lifespan is probably the most correct one. Not every centuries old elf that we've ever seen was a powerful mage.

Seeing how most of telvanni wizards disprove the eso qoute in morrowind. I agree for the single player games, the wiki is the correct answer but for the ESO the eso qoute is right for that game. Same name and same materials but different touches here and there.
