Mod Oragniser info required

Excuse me ... I mean MOD ORGANISER not mod manager.. i don't know how to change the thread title.

So I installed MO and just installed COT.. Now there are optional plugins, such as sounds, and a dawnguard and dragon born patch.

When I installed the optinal plugins, MO says, replace, merge or install aswell as. Which one should I choose? I am guessing not replace, but install aswell as ? so both are installed?

My logic tells me to "merge" as it will replace new files, but keep older files . Which is generally what a patch should do?

Second question.

In MO"overwrite" folder, it contains a number of plugins, for example "dragonborn patch"

Now I assume that these are there because I used the unofficial dragonborn patch, which will alter the dragon born files and therfore keep the original unaltered dragonborn "dragonborn patch" while moving the patched one into the installed mod list.

Just want to check so I don't develop problems along the way...

thanks

Gopher the YouTuber in my signature made a MO installation and tutorial video. Watch it, he'll explain any questions you may have.

Ditto on watching Gopher's Mod Organizer series (playlist here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE7DlYarj-DcLS9LyjEqOJwFUQIIQewcK). There is no short answer to your first question (watch the vids). The Dawnguard and Dragonborn patches are not optional if you have both of those DLCs and want CoT to work for them, so either "Install", "Rename" or "Merge" could be appropriate, depending on what you want to achieve (watch the vids). "Replace" would not be an appropriate choice for any of those.

As to your second question, there shouldn't be anything in your Overwrite folder, especially if you want to make use of the profiles functionality of MO. Again, watch the vids.

Have just started watching these videos now : - ) he does go over the very basic stuff, which can be tedious, but I actually learned a couple of new things with regard to the optional category from installed plugins, aswell as how to set where the data directory was, if it wasn't in the typical location . Which will probably be enough to resolve the problems I have had with mods that say "this will not work" i think they were probably due to the data directory not being set.
