Doom Collector's Edtion - No Mouse support?

Whats up guys..

First off I want to say, I'm strictly a console gamer and have been doing so for 35 years exclusively. After falling in love with Quake 3 and the rest of Id's games I've been playing on consoles I decided I wanted to purchase Quake 3 Arena Gold and The Doom Collector's Edition.. My sole reason for doing this is because I taught myself how to use the mouse and keyboard way back in 2001 on the Sega Dreamcast and after a few weeks my fragrate quadruppled! I bought these games for the sole purpose of being able to use a m/kb and of course the extra visual and run quality that a PC provides.

Everything installed perfectly for Quake 3 Gold and the mouse worked right out of the box. However when I installed doom the game wouldn't even start off the launcher and I got a pop up message telling me to download something called a DLL file.. whatever that is.. Took me about 30 minutes after googling it and somehow by a miracle all games are now launching... Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 and Final Doom.

The problem now is the mouse doesn't work at all despite it being enabled in the options..

I'm using an Acer Windows 7 laptop that I bought from 2011 and a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500. I opened up the settings to the mouse itself but I don't understand what to do because nothing pertains to games..

Can anyone tell me a simple solution to resolve this because I'm stuck at a motel without my gaming consoles and really wanted to run through these classic games on Nightmare while finding every single secret.. LOL there is no way I would attempt any difficulty above Hurt me plenty with a game console controller so I really had my heart set on this. Can anyone steer me in the right direction or tell me what to do exactly? While I've been on the internet for 14 years, I am a casual PC user so please don't assume I know what you're talking about when it comes to things like DOS, Linux, or anything else technical.

Can anyone here please help? Thanks fellas.

Bro, download/use this: http://www.osnanet.de/c.oelckers/gzdoom/about.html

It's a source port for Doom, otherwise known as a program that runs Doom using a new engine while still looking the same.

-You can ignore what it says about fancy effects, those can all be disabled. Otherwise, if you'd be happy with dynamic lights and the new things it has to offer you can use them all.

GZDoom lets the games have better color instead of the way Doom had everything wash out with its old "fog" effect.

However, if you feel you want the exact same look as before, go with http://zdoom.org/News instead.

Both of these are simple folders you unpack anywhere on your computer, no fancy or complicated setup. Then you just put a copy of your http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doom_WAD (the game data) in there (in the folder).

The WAD files should be found wherever you installed the games. Or you could probably do a system/start search for 'wad' or 'doom.wad' and such.

It's worth it. It really is worth the bit of extra time for these.

Oh and yeah it's legal, you only have the WAD files because you purchased/installed Doom. The source ports do not provide them and can not run without them.
