The title says it all.
I'm gonna be ordering online through a Dutch site, but I don't have a lot of knowledge when it comes to PC parts and which ones are best suited for me. My PCs are used pretty extensively, they're powered on all day every day and are also used for graphic/artsy stuff as well as lots of gaming.
On top of that, I need the one I'm buying now to last me a LONG time. Right now I have the funds to make it a potential monster, but I'm moving out in a couple of months and by then my funds for 'fun stuff' will be... well, you know That is the main reason I decided to buy a new one instead of updating my current 5 year old PC, which is by no means a crappy one but it will only keep up a few more years without new updates.
With the new one I don't want to have to worry about updating for a LONG time.
In the spoiler tag are all the options I can choose from (the ones that matter anyway), and the bolded ones are the ones I currently have my eye on, but if anyone who has more/better knowledge about game PCs than I have can give me some input I'd really appreciate it. It's a lot of money so I want to get it right and not have any regrets.
Casing:
- Cooler Master CMX 690
- Corsair Carbide 500R Black
- Cooler Master CM Storm Trooper
- Cooler Master CM Storm Stryker
- Cooler Master Cosmos II
Cooling:
- Standard cooling (I have no specs for this one)
- Cooler Master TX3 evo
- Cooler Master Hyper 412S
Processor and mother board:
- Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz + MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (not suitable for over clocking)
- Intel Core i7 4790 4.0 GHz + MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (suitable for over clocking)
- Intel Core i7 4790 4.0 GHz + ASUS Maximus VII Ranger (suitable for over clocking)
- ntel Core i7 4790 4.0 GHz + Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force (suitable for over clocking)
I am not interested in over clocking this thing. The second one is only 40 euro more than the 3.6 GHz one, but if the fact that it can be over clocked is the only reason for the increase of price than I don't see why I should take that one, unless you guys say the 4.0 GHz one is still the better option. I miiiiight go for the third one then if that's the case.
RAM:
- Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3-1600
- Crucial Ballistix Tactical 8GB DDR3-1866
- Crucial Ballistix Sport 12GB DDR3-1600
- Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB DDR3-1600
- Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16GB DDR3-1866
What do you recommend? 12GB or 16GB, and if 16, Sport or Tactical? I don't know what the difference is.
Video card:
- Nvidia GTX 760 2GB
- AMD Radeon HD R9 280X 3GB
- Nvidia GTX 770 2GB
- AMD Radeon HD R9 290 4GB
- Nvidia GTX 970 4GB
- Nvidia GTX 780 3GB
- AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB
- Nvidia GTX 980 4GB
- Nvidia GTX 780 Ti 3GB
I'm leaning towards Nvidia this time, as I heard it tends to have better drivers. Still, opinions are appreciated.
Power supply:
- 700 Watt Cooler Master (85% efficiency)
- 850 Watt Cooler Master V850
Is 700 enough?
I'm also getting 2 hard drives, one 2000GB SATA III and one 1000GB SATA III and the PC will have Windows 7 64bit, because I don't care and don't want to deal with Windows 8.1 at all. I'll be using the windows 7 CD from this computer. Everything else is pretty standard, like a 7.1 sound card instead of a fancy one, my Razer headset does the job.
So yeah, that's it. Thanks in advance!
