Getting on the Thalmor's Wrong Side

Post » Mon Oct 13, 2014 2:54 am

I know it's quite easy to get in trouble with the local law enforcement, but is there a way to just get on the Thalmor's wrong side (other than by joining the Stormcloaks), and I suppose also the Empire's, seeing how superficially in bed they are with one another?

You can do a few things that send a Thalmor assassination squad against you, and you can (very easily) antagonize any Thalmor patrols you come across.

It's pretty easy to get on their [censored] list.

Well, the Empire isn't real thrilled with the Thalmor either, but that's a separate discussion.

Kill any Thalmor patrols you see on the road. You can goad them into attacking you first, if you want to avoid a bounty. Otherwise, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Missing_In_Action can sufficiently get them pissed off at you.

Join us Stormcloaks and finish the Civil War questline. That'll send those pesky thalmor out of Skyrim for good, and also the corrupt legion.

Both Chadric and the new character that I wish to start in the near future wish to be united with the general populous (including the law enforcement), but neither of them wish to stay at all friendly with the Thalmor, especially my new character. As a matter of fact, I envision he and his small band having to hide from the Thalmor and make hit and run attacks, then to come under siege within their den from the Thalmor in retaliation. Think "French Resistance" here. Yes, I know all about the rather basic annoy the Thalmor patrols tactic, but I'd very much prefer it if the Thalmor attacked my character on sight as a wanted fugitive of the Dominion, if you get my meaning?

The Dragonborn could easily kill Thalmor in the 100's, if not 1000's. They better not send that many assassins or justiciars to try to kill him/her. ;)

Great idea, but I'm hoping to try something, rather interesting with my next character. He'll be in the same reality as Chadric, and seeing that Chadric helped the Empire (not the Dominion) in his story, I'm afraid that wont be possible. But don't worry, Chadric has his own plans for eventually defeating the Dominion.

Yes, very much so. Chadric (my only Dragonborn) can easily wipe out small armies now. However, my new character will be a regular Nord, one with a mission of his own.

BTW: Regarding the Stormcloaks, I have plotted for my new character to eventually join them. But as he's more of a rogue character he will be very hesitant to join even them. As a matter of fact, Einarr balks at the thought of any authority calling the shots. He'll eventually be either talked into joining or be forced into it, although I haven't yet decided which.

It's not as much of "calling the shots" with the Stormcloaks. You're all brothers and sisters fighting for a free Skyrim and you're relatively free to do whatever you wish, with Ulfric as the "leader" for the Stormcloaks. He is of course a Lord and a Jarl, but he's more of a down to earth leader than say Tullius.

There have been people saying the Stormcloaks only accept Nords but make an exception only for the Dragonborn. That is not true. They accept anyone willing to fight for Skyrim and die for Skyrim. The racism is more Galmar.

Galmar's treatment of the Dark Elves is the reason why Chadric ended up supporting the Empire. See, that was his very first experience of the Stormcloaks as he was entering Windhelm, so he turned his back on them. However, he ended up regretting defeating Ulfric at the very end. As a result he intends to link up with the Stormcloak remnants, along with make political nice with the Empire in an attempt to, let us just say, do what Ulfric couldn't do with his rather blunt methods. I hope to make Chadric the El Cid of Tamriel, by bringing together all factions against the Dominion.

As for Einarr, he, as a sort of rogue Robin Hood type, is at first ignorant of the Stormcloaks' set-up; that and he just doesn't care. He doesn't like being given orders. He's his own boss and he wants to deal out justice his own way. But rest assured, he will end up joining, fighting and apparently dying for the Stormcloaks, although when that will be even I don't know! It'll happen when I feel it's natural for him to join, like when one of his future comrades persuades him or if he's put into a corner and feels he has no other choice.

Honestly? I'm finding the prospect of starting his playthrough and continuing Chadric's really exciting! I've built up quite an arsenal of ideas in the past few months and I'm looking forward to playing them through! However, some of Chadric's playthrough will need quite a bit of modding for his story to continue to its final long term conclusion...

Galmar has never once (that we know of) treated the dark elves in such a manner. The person you're referring too is his drunkard little brother, Rolff.

I recall being attacked by Thalmor as soon as I got out of Riverwood back on the Ps3, it was one of those moments that fit exactly what I had planned for RP. They attacked a character that's a high ranking Legionnaire who was working on destroying the nasty Thalmor. ;)

I believe telling the patrolling Thalmor that you worship Talos makes the patrolling Thalmor attack you on sight.

Spoiler
The quest to rescue the Greymane guy really delivers a hard blow against the Thalmor in Skyrim. As...almost every single NPC reminds you constantly.

A tad face palm moment was when the person you rescued said he was off to join the Stormcloaks despite the fact that I had already finished the CW questline on the Empire side.
