Is a mod that changes Region Names possible?

So I had tried this a while back. I wanted to make a mod that removed "Region" from Region names, as a result, "Bitter Coast Region" became "The Bitter Coast", so on and so forth.

However, since region names appear to be saved in savegames, you need to manually change them in Enchanted to get it to work with existing saves, and even if you do, it breaks literally every mod that affects something in those regions.

Is there some way to make a mod like this that won't break every mod on one's list? It's funny that such a simple change would be so difficult to implement, yet this is a game that doesn't even support normalmapping, or custom skills without extensive scripting...

If the region ID is the name of the region, which includes the word "Region" then you can't change it anymore than you could change a formid and have things still work.

You might be able to change the display name in places with a script that uses the condition of the old name to display the new name.

Region IDs aren't region names though, the Molag Amur for instance, it's Region ID is "Molag Mar Region", but it's region name is "Molag Amur Region". Unfortunately, the region names still seem to be used in scripts or cell IDs or something, something that prevents a mod changing them from working.

There are tools (or at least one) that allow to change pretty much all instanced of a particular word to another one, including dialogues, scripts etc. It was widely used (and created for) semi-translating English mods into Polish, basing on pre-made and optionally user-made dictionary files, the latter allowing user to fully translate all dialogues etc.

In theory, you could make you own dictionary files (very simple, containing just default names and your new names) and then overwrite the pre-made dictionary files with your won, as the program is in Polish and doesn't natively allow to use user's dictionaries only.

The main downside of this program is that you need to run it on every mod you want to change, one by one. If you want to try it, I'll offer my assistance, especially with deciphering our language.
