Now, everyone is clamoring for Fallout 4 and nobody looks forward to them more than I; however, what if, to bridge the gap between the old and new Fallout fans, Bethesda brings Fallout 1&2 to the current generation. The base story is there. It would just require a bit more expansion of the areas and side quests. Think of a return to vault 13 or the addition of Arcade's father to Navarro. It would allow fans of the new series to understand some of the references to the original games as well as being able to add additional back story that we as a fanbase may only speculate about.

We can get Fallout 1 and 2 on Steam right now. No need to spend time on a remake or redone. It is better the team spend their time on Fallout 4 in making it the best Fallout game that they can.
