Blacksmiths in Whiterun

Okay, why does http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Ulfberth_War-Bear always glitch or never show up to work on the console versions? I have it on PS3 and it never fails for either him to either disappear, die or whatever causes it. latey I've had the same problem with Adrianne Avenicci since I've had the 1.9 update installed.

I am on 360 so I don't know specifically for the PS3 but I have never had that issue. I will say that sometimes he won't show up in the store immediately at 8am but the door is locked for me and he can usually be found on his way to the shop. I suppose perhaps he might die in a vampire attack but thats about all I can really think of.

This may be a stupid question, but have you tried looking IN the shop? I'm also a console player, and this hasn't happened to me once. And it doesn't seem to be listed as a frequent bug.. usually something like this could be quickly cleared up on the PC version, but I don't know about Consoles.

Once before and he was in there, but I have checked many times in his shop to see if he came back, but nope. He must have either was killed by vampires from the Dawnguard dlc or just wandered off and disappeared.

It's very likely that he was killed one way or another. Vampire Attacks are known for those kind of things. And I don't remember Ulfberth being an essential NPC.

Sadly he isn't an essential. But he's so convenient when I need to sell a load of junk. Well, the daedric merchant you get from the DragonBorn dlc that you can summon comes in handy, but even he runs out of gold.

I just wish shop owners had an infinite amount of gold so I can keep pawning off things I don't need.

But because of that I just throw it in one of the storage chests at the Breezehome until they have more gold available.
