Can Not See Companion/Follower

Post » Sun May 16, 2010 12:16 am

I have ED E the robot following me and I can not see him to ask him to leave so that I am able to have Rex the dog follow me so that I can get his brain fixed cause I apparently have ED E with me so Rex says, however I can not see him. What can I do....any suggestions?

You named your topic incorrectly, because you can continue you don't need to have rex to continue the game. Anyways, you could try waiting 7 in-game days and then go back to primm to see if ED-E is there and if it is make sure it's not following you as a companion and then go back to freeside and get Rex.

Nope just stating that fact. Because of the name of the topic I was like "Oh snap, this dude can't see his companion to target him/her, and the companion is attacking some MS quest giver" or something along those lines since the OP said that he can't continue.

Also, even though I said something about his topic title at least I gave the OP an idea of something to try. What did you contribute?

Sorry I made a mistake on how I titled my topic...I am new and this is my very first post. I was trying to explain what was going on in my game the best that I could. Thanks for the suggestion I will wait the seven in game days and see if it works.

I didn't have a tip for him, I just didn't think you needed to flame him about his topic. Maybe he just fell in love with man's best friend so much, felt like he just couldn't go on without Rex. Just an idea.

As I explained, I was not trying to flame him about his topic at all, I was just letting him know that it can confuse forum users or piss off (the crazy) forum users when they see something in the title/description and when they go into the topic and it's a bit different.

I am having the same issue... and I cannot continue... Ed-E is apparently my follower currently (I have the enhanced sensors perk) but I cannot see him or interact with him, even though NPC's will respond as if he is there. The problem is I cannot enter the tent in the "Render Unto Ceasar" quest, and I cannot tell Ed-E to wait or to leave. Also, once you enter the camp from Cottonwood, you cannot leave... probably because you are supposed to complete that portion of the quest prior to leaving the camp...

Sorry I didn't know you were a girl. You definitely made sure that you waited a full 7 in-game days? And you checked back at the post office place in Primm after that? If you did do those things then I'm sorry that didn't work I wish I had another answer for you. When you go into combat does ED-E do combat damage or anything?

Also, just a little tid-bit off topic to try and help you out since your new here. When you are quoting me I noticed that you quote me and then are creating a separate reply below it. If you click reply under someones post it will quote them and you can also post a message in the same text box just post after the brackets that say [/quote]

Another way if it's like the one I had with Veronica is continue going through the game and eventually ED-E will pop up when you enter an room. You see Veronica decided not to follow me even when I asked her to, so she stayed at (ugh, I'm drunk sorry for not remembering the name) the brotherhood's base camp. So I went to Vault 22, and at the bottom level she was magically there. She didn't move from there but after I killed all of the freaky spore dudes, I went to her and said "Follow Me" and she instantly died!!! lol after trying three or four times I said screw it and went back to the base and she was in the same room as the elder. It might help or not, idk...unless you figured it out. Oh, sorry about calling you "him", I usually call everyone "dudes" just to avoid the gender confusion... :D

Just to add a little information, my companion Ed-E does not participate in combat, I've tried the waiting over 7 days to see if he returns to Primm (he doesn't), and I have fast traveled to a number of different locations, enter buildings, including going to the penthouse of the Lucky 38 which should make him wait elsewhere... I think this is a bug with the companions. Still not sure how to fix it.

I Had Ed-E and I needed to be alone to get into a building. I still had the 'enhanced sensors' perk, but Ed-E was not with me. I hadn't noticed for some time.

People were still reacting to him being there. Anyway, I tried the vault elevator trick, penthouse, waiting many many consecutive in game days, checking the office in Primm, fast travelling - nothing.

So the game is broken. I can't get rid of a follower I don't have, and so I'm stuck. My only confirmed glitch free save was 12 hours previously, and I'd done the whole boomer quest chain and much more in that time.

What I /did/ manage to do though, is stick the game disk through the optical media security shredder at work, which was satisfying and is about all it's good for. Given the other problems, scenery issues, lockups and crashes to XMB.

So now, I don't have to worry about Ed-E any more.

If this weren't software, I'd have returned it under SOGA in the UK as being not fit for purpose, considering the number of problems with it. Somehow though, software companies have managed to get themselves some kind of defacto exemption from SOGA.
