"your game of the year" is an ambiguous term...
For clarification, do you mean a game that came out this year? or a game i first played this year (but may have come out a few years back)?
Well, i haven't played that much games this year, but i would say, DESTINY, even if i thing they are better overall games out there.
Alien Isolation. Runner up, Astebreed.
Seriously, I did not buy many new releases this year..
Well the only game I've played this year that has been released this year is Payday 2.
They aren't out yet, but I know mine are probably gonna be Pokémon: Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.
The Elder Scrolls Online or Divinity: Original Sin. The former is probably the best mechanically-crafted MMO I've ever played with some of the best questing and storytelling, and the latter is in my opinion possibly one of the best RPGS ever made.
Bit early to be asking this since we're not at the end of the year yet though.
well, that severely cuts down my list of options... didn't buy a whole lot of games that were released this year since my backlog now already exceeds 90 games.. and I've slowly been working through it..
hmm...
guess I'll go with Tales of Xillia 2... not a great game, and had alot of plot holes (and the plot itself was pretty bad).. but the combat was fun, the side missions involving the original cast were usually handled pretty well (and some were very humorous), and it had a few high points..
Granted, I have played several games that were ALOT better than it (as Xillia 2 was sub par, and not quite up to the same quality as other Tales games), but most of them came out a few years back. most of my 2014 games are sitting in my backlog who knows when they are gonna be played..
I've only bought one game this year: Divinity: Original Sin. So Divinity: Original Sin it is.
But that may change when Dragon Age: Inquisition is released.
Alien Isolation
Really hoping Dreamfall Chapters and Dragon Age: Inquisition rival it though.
Seriously? Goat Simulator, hands down.
The only new game I've brought is Super Smash bros, so I guess that's my GOTY.
Wasteland 2 for me, for best new game ive played this year. Though i havent tried divinity original sin, and it looks pretty awesome as well, so that may change.
its not a terrible game, but its not great.. the combat is fun, the side chapters (that focused on the cast from Xillia) were handled pretty well, and it had some humorous scenes.. however, the plot wasn't great and had some inconsistencies that were pretty much plot holes.. and they removed a few useful features (like swapping party members mid combat)..
if you enjoyed the first Xillia, and felt attached to any of the characters, i suppose its worth a playthrough just to see how the journey in Xillia changed their outlook on life, and the aftermath of Maxwell tearing down the Schism..
as long as you don't go in with high expectations, you may enjoy it
There's still a few games I'm waiting to play this year, but I'm pretty sure it will be Dark Souls 2 anyways.
Only games I've played that released this year are South Park: The Stick of Truth and Destiny. Neither of which I consider my game of the year.
I've mainly spent this year catching up on games I need to play.
I guess either Danganronpa 2 or Ar nosurge. I've bought a lot of games this year so it's hard to pick just one.
Dark Souls II even with all the issues I've had with it removing two characters that I had a collective 400 hours into. I still think it is one of the best games of this year, but this all may change when Assassin's Creed: Rogue comes out. Or maybe Dragon Age: Inquisition they are both games I'm extremely hyped for and I think they are going to be great.
It's a close tie between Wolfenstein and Shadow of Mordor.
I'm going to have to give it to Wolfenstein.
Loved it. The art direction, the gunplay and the amount of detail crafted into the environments is incredible.
