Option for letterbox filter removal.

I've seen a few people talking about problems with the letterbox view. But I like the cinematic flare it provides and the feeling of claustrophobia.

Sadly it also makes the game near unplayable for me, after a few minutes play I start to get headaches and have to stop playing. This problem has already made me sick. When I first played the game I played all the way to chapter three, took almost two hours between me dying and the headache. But once I got to chapter three I had to give up and spend the next few minutes staring in to a toilet bowl waiting the nausea to pass.

I know I may be one of the few to get this problem, but I also know that I’m one of many that would like to be able to turn it off. So I ask for only an option for us to turn the letterbox off. I know why it’s there and I would like the effect if I didn’t have to stop every few minutes to let the headache ebb away. I know a few people who like it, so for them just an option to switch it off is all I ask.

Does anyone else feel ill for playing The Evil Within? Or do you just want a way to turn the letterbox off?

I suggest voting at the very top of this post http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1508898-temp-aspect-ratio-fix/ on my poll, mainly because...

1: its relivent to your post

2: it keeps my post alive for others to see

3: the more votes it gets and more noticed it is, the more likely something will be done about it.

Hi Derpy

You're not the only one who gets "sick" playing the game.

I've heard of other people who have been affected by this.

I doubt it's the aspect ratio that's making you ill but rather your body trying to reconcile the conflicting input from seperate senses that confirm you are both in motion and at rest at the same time.

Nothing really to do with the aspect ration at all to be fair.

I keep reading threads and I personally haven't even noticed the letterbox view. Is it on all platforms?
I hear you on the motion sickness. I don't get it with this game, but when I first played Alien:Isolation, I got really sick, and was too scared to play it again. Then we moved the PS4 to a TV that was a bit older and smaller, and I didn't have the problem again.

Same thing happens to me with poor FOV, though luckily I'm on the PC so I made the letterboxing smaller. I had to warn my brother about it though, and he opted out on buying it for the Xbox since there is no work around for it on the consoles. His friends also skipped this game for the same reason…

They really need to patch a removal in for the console versions. It was a bad idea to add it into the game tbh.

Mikami should have gone to specsavers :P

Honestly though, there's a reason very few games have such a feature. No one likes headaches/nausea.
