what would you do if you woke up in a abandoned vault in the fallout wasteland?

i guess i would explore much of it as i could other then that i might panic!

I'd make it my personal fortress and enjoy freedom from other people for a while, but I imagine I'd eventually open it up -- still using it as my fortress -- but I'd go out into the wasteland and try to start exploring.

Which wasteland are we talking here? FO3 wasteland? Or the Mojave which IMO isn't really a wasteland in comparison to FO3.

However. If I woke up in an empty abandoned vault the first thing I would do would be to look for weapons and things to arm myself with. Hopefully some food. During that search I would also try and find hopefully a working terminal or something that would give me an idea of what is going on.

Once I had geared up with enough things that I felt confident enough to leave the vault, I would.

If I was in the Mojave, I would probably try and locate the nearest road and then the nearest town. Security in numbers. I'd probably try and find my way to the outskirts of Vegas and see about being a farm hand for either the NCR or the Crimson Caravan. Close to the city, guarded. Room and meals. All great to sustain myself while planning what I would do next. I'd probably try and set up a general good store somewhere.

If I was in the FO3 wasteland, depends where I was. Megaton is central so I'd probably try and make for that. Going near DC with its super mutants? hell no. Would live to get to Rivet City but wouldn't risk the trip. Providing the mutants were not to much of an issue I'd probably find my way to Bigtown. Maybe build myself a fortress near the top of one of those power line towers. Like a tree house but reinforced to withstand missile blasts and such. Have a nice little sniper perch up there and an ample supply of mini nukes to drop on uninvited guests below heh.
