Dark Brotherhood Implications - Mainly regarding Hearthfire

Post » Mon Oct 27, 2014 12:02 pm

I can't seem to find any clear answer on this and since I have never installed Hearthfire before I'm just going by what I've read. It seems that if you do the Dark Brotherhood contract to kill Helvard you no longer have the option to buy a plot in Falkreath in Hearthfire. Is there any confirmed way around this without console commands?

I'm wondering will the following fix this:-

- Do the Dark Brotherhood Questline killing Helvard along the way

- Do the Civil war questline siding with the stormcloaks

This will mean that Siddgeir and his stewardess Nenya will be replaced by Dengeir and his stewardess Tekla. Would I then be able to buy the plot of land from them?

I want to finish the regular game completely before installing Hearthfire so buying the plot first is not an option. I also seem to remember that you only have to do one of the three contracts that you are given each time to advance through the Dark Brotherhood questline so that seems like my only other option and may be best as my character is a relative good guy who only wants to kill when he really has to.

Can anyone please offer any advice on this?

I'm sorry I don't know I don't have hearth fire too but I'm getting it in less than two weeks but I have been doing a lot of research on it to be prepared I haven't heard about this before but is Helvard the steward? If so you might be able to talk to the Jarl if he is killed again I have never played hearthfire except for a brief moment where when my brother was out I played it for four hours unfortunately I didn't join the dark brother hood because I wanted to experience hearth fire so I 'm not sure I will do some research and get back to you

Yes so apparently that does happen if you get hearth fire DONT JOIN THE DARKBROTHERHOOD I would wait until you buy the house in falkreath (if you want one there) then you may try to join the dark brotherhood that's what I suggest

Hope I helped

Thanks but I would rather finish everything in the default game first and then start Hearthfire.

There's nothing really to start in Heartifre though. In case of Falkreath one it's just a leveled (you need to be level 9) generic bandit leader hit quest that enables you to buy a plot of land. I personally like to start out with a really small house at the start and gradually have my house improved as I myself increase in power and finish quests.

If you kill him without being seen he will blame bandits.
