Description:
Remember back in the day when Bethesda did interviews with modders? This is basically a continuation of that, only instead of a written format, we're going a more podcast-oriented route with interviews conducted over a voice-chat server and released on YouTube with various mods created by the author being shown in the background. If you've ever wanted to hear your favorite modders answer your questions in a podcast setting, this is your chance!

Now I know what some of you must be thinking, why now? Why do modder interviews now, and why is it important to do so? Given the relative success of https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTiULQ_bcPRu_jMTZ86WO7A, I thought it was time we started to branch out of our rigid episode format with a new show, and what better way to branch out than doing interviews with the people that make the stuff we feature all the time? Now, for why it's important, I would say interviews can make a voice in the community heard, and be the platform for new ideas and community efforts going forward into the future, as well as be a positive reinforcement for being a part of such a great community!

Goal:
The goal of Morrowind Modding Interviews is not only to interview a wide number of modders out there and show off mods you may not have seen before, but also to give new modders a voice in their community and help shape the future of Morrowind as we know it with new ideas. Not to mention build up momentum and excitement for modding again! Modding is an amazing and creative activity, and we should revel in our accomplishments and be proud of where modders can take us with their creations!

How it Works:
Every six weeks we'll be releasing three episodes of Morrowind Modding Interviews with recorded interviews of three Morrowind modders. Each interview is released as a separate episode, but we'll be recording them as a batch in order to stay ahead of the schedule and keep up with Morrowind Modding Showcases.

A week before the interviews are to be recorded, we'll post the names of the modders who've agreed to an interview and give everyone time to submit questions they'd like a particular modder to be asked during the interview. We'll take as many questions as we can, but make sure they're appropriate!

As soon as all questions are submitted, we'll forward the list of approved interview questions to the modders involved, so they'll have time to prepare their talking points before the interview is recorded.

On the date and time set by each modder, we'll invite them to a private TeamSpeak server (which has good conversation recording software built in) and begin the interview. With any luck, things will go smoothly and an episode will be released on YouTube a week later with included background footage of the author's mods.

We will naturally be taking suggestions for modders to interview, so if there's someone you want to see covered in a future interview, let us know!

Of course, this all depends on the interviewee in question having a mic available. As for non-English speakers, we can try and get translators on a case-by-case basis to act as a go-between, and we'll also be releasing interview transcripts after each episode for easy reading/translating to other languages.

Scheduled Interviews:
As mentioned above, we'll be scheduling interviews in batches of three modders at a time, and the first few scheduled interviewees can be found above. It should be mentioned that we're going to be following a particular pattern of who we interview. Each batch of episodes will go something like this:

  • Popular/Old-Timer Modder Interview - Someone who's been with the community for a long time or has released a particularly popular mod that has a lot of visibility in the community.
  • Current Modder/Project Developer Interview - This is for active modders and, more particularly, project modders from major teams like Tamriel Rebuilt, SHoTN, Province: Cyrodiil, and other large-scale projects where they can talk about their work with a big-team effort endeavor.
  • New Modder Interview - For those who have only come to the community recently in the last two years or so, this gives them an opportunity to voice their thoughts on the community at large and what they think should change in the future.

Basic Interview Questions:
These are the default interview questions that we'll be including in each modder interview. Naturally, we'll have a few more questions depending on who we interview, and again, we're taking any and all appropriate questions submitted by the community for a particular interviewee!

  • When did you first start playing Morrowind and the Elder Scrolls in general?
  • What was your first mod and how did you get the idea for it?
  • Are you working on any new projects?
  • What mods and modders currently have your attention in the community?
  • What do you think makes the Morrowind modding community so vibrant after more than a decade?
  • Do you think there's anything the Morrowind Modding Community should be doing in order to continue to expand and grow in the coming years?
  • Any advice you'd like to give to budding new Morrowind modders out there looking to release their first mod?

Thanks for reading, and I hope you all enjoy our new segment on Morrowind Modding! As always, special thanks goes to all of the amazing modders out there and our awesome community for making things like this possible!

This is pretty cool! I nominate Melchior Dahrk, he released several neat mods, and his monster work is closer to release with each passing day! :D
