I started playing Skyrim on one computer. Right after the character creation, you get to control your guy and you're told to run to a tower. I do that. I climb the stairs, but then am faced with a wall. Nothing happens. I can't do anything beyond this point. What's going on? Is there something I'm supposed to do?

On another computer, I installed the game, and when I go into the tower, the dragon busts through the window and I have to jump out on to the roof. This doesn't happen on the other machine! Why? Is there something I'm supposed to trigger?

I'm not certain what the solution is, but I remember reading that the dragon not knocking out the wall is a known bug. I don't remember exactly where it's at, but somewhere on the UESP wiki the issue and a solution are described.

Are you using any mods?

If you are on the 360, I have gotten past this bug by quitting to Home, then rebooting the game and reloading the autosave that the game makes right after completing character generation. On PC, I think you can toggle collision to move past the wall, but it's been a while since I've played Skyrim on PC, so don't quote me.

Yeah, the advised solution by UESP is to toggle collision and move through the wall to the Inn next door.
