Oblivion and alternative fonts, Font Generator problems

Post » Thu Oct 30, 2014 3:30 am

During my RPG gaming catching-up the time has come for Oblivion.

I added some mods, including DarnUI, but I found the included fonts (originally with the game and with the mod) a little bit hard to read. So I googled Oblivion Font Generator and thought it was exactly what I needed.

Unfortunately, the Font Generator on Oblivion Nexus is a very old version and it generates fonts with very jagged edges. I started googling and found out the most recent released version is 1.13 - but it is no longer possible to be found! I have managed to download version 1.12 from some Russian website and found anti-aliasing options for the fonts - my happiness didn't last long, because the game crashes instantly during start-up when these fonts are loaded.

So my questions are:

- is there anything I can do to make Font Generator 1.12 work with the most recent version of Oblivion?

- could someone here help with Font Generator 1.13?

- or perhaps someone could help with a generated (and working ;)) Times New Roman 16 set of files?

Thanks in advance.

Good luck with your font issue. I cannot help, since I have not used any font replacements for Oblivion. Darn fonts are too amall for me and after studying the isuse, I concluded there was no way to make them much bigger. There is some discussion of this in the Darn readme that basically says you can make the font a little bigger but not very much bigger.

That's why I use Bt Mod instead of Darn. It has bigger fonts.

I am going to watch this thread. If there is a way to make Darn fonts substantially bigger, I might give it a try someday, although I am pretty happy with Bt Mod.
