Skyrim: What a great game!

Post » Fri Oct 31, 2014 2:37 am

Hi! I started this topic because I read too many negative comments on Bethesda forums and got depressed. I have criticized Skyrim a lot myself, but all that has been done out of love. No other game has made me waste 700 hours of my time basically doing the same things over and over again. That's a whole month! But still I play the game and enjoy it, so there must be something special about that.

So let us have a moment and indulge in cheery comments about this great game! In this topic you can only tell us some good things. Like how cool is the ending scene of Skyrim MQ when all the dragons come to pay homage and say goodbye to World Eater. Or how epic it is to catch a salmon by shooting it with a daedric bow!

Please, share your good Skyrim moments and tell us why it is such a good game.

(inb4 passive aggressive comments and underhanded compliments)

Some of my best moments were had with lycanthropy. I remember on 11.11.11 my friend told me he was getting Skyrim and asked if I wanted to hang out and take turns playing it with our other friend. I had watched my brother play Morrowind and Oblivion before, but this was the first time I played an Elder Scrolls game myself. It was glorious. We all took turns going through the intro part up to the first dragon fight and a little beyond that. We were talking about werewolves in the game and wondering how to become one. Being a greedy night owl, I continued to play the game while my friends went to sleep; I was trying to collect enough gold to buy Breezehome by doing some quests in Whiterun, and then the whole lycanthropy thing was dropped on me and the next morning I was like "lol guys I figured out how to become a werewolf".

We did something similar with Dawnguard, since my friend had a 360 and he got the DLC before the rest of us. I was going on a werewolf bender through Skyrim just having fun and killing anything in sight, and my all-time most flawless kill-cam was grabbing the archer on the top of Valtheim Towers by the head and flinging him into the river.

A lot of my favorite moments happened at Valtheim Towers, to be honest. That's a fun little location.

They mainly come from people who praise Morrowind for some reason. Just look it up I guess, they're really really in poor taste if you ask me.

The game in general is fun to me and one of the best I've ever played, I don't feel like summing up all the reasons why :P. Keep in mind that the forums usually only attract those who are a bit more hardcoe when it comes to ES, specifically those who have played more than one ES game, specifically those who really love Morrowind and hate and will hate every ES game that comes after it. That's not saying that you're one of those people because you like Morrowind and think Skyrim isn't as good, but some certainly love to bash on all things post-Morrowind. That being said, game forums will always give you a negative impression about a game, that's at least the case with most forums that I've seen. People rarely post on a forum to praise a game's features and say how great it is, but boy will they show their Dementia side when something about the game bothers them. Sometimes that results in constructive, helpful criticism that will make future installments better, other times you get posts where people sum up all the things they hate but don't give reasons why they hate them.
