I was just wondering what the longest battle you've ever had in Skyrim has been. The subject arises becasue I am currently stuck in what may be a never-ending combat. here's the situation.

I came out of a dungeon having been sent to "unlock the power" at a certain location. the dungeon wasn't too bad, but it was long. I emerged onto a snowy mountain top, found the wall with the word right beside me, as well as a dragon priest who popped out of his tomb to greet me. I entered combat with the priest, and he was almost immediately joined by a Frost Dragon.

For half an hour I fought the two of them (and the Priest's summoned creatures) by summoning critters of my own and popping out from behind some handy stone columns to use a spell and popping back behind them again. So, killed the priest at the end of the first half-hour of combat, but this dragon, well...

I got the dragon down to a little over a quarter of his full health, and he flew away... Only to return a short time later with about half of his health built back up. I hit him with dual-cast fireballs (the most destructive spell I have) and used a summoned draugr mage who summons a frost atronach and uses Ice Spike as well. My most powerful shout is the frost breath with two words learned, and here's how all of that goes.

I use the shout, and get off two dual-cast fireballs (minimum 124 damage), The draugr hits him with an ice spike or two, and the dragon flies away with a health that is about a quarter of full. Shortly he returns with about half of his health reatored, and we do it all again. this has been going on for two hours real time, and dawn to midnight game time. It's still going on. I saved and exited because I had to leave for a while.

The problem is that there seems to be no way I can just backtrack through the dungeon, there is no door back in that I can find. I can't try to simply get down the mountain because the dragons breath weapon kills me with just one full hit, so if I'm caught in the open I'm dead meat. At this point, I do not see a way out that doesn't involve outright cheating like using the console...

So, this is my longest battle to date, and it's just over two hours real time with no end in sight. Have you had something like that happen? If so, how did you break the stalemate?
