What's the matter with QUICKSAVE?

Post » Thu Nov 06, 2014 3:46 am

Why isn't there any Quicksave? I have to kill these stupid safe heads. And everytime I fail, I have to wait at least 30 seconds to load the scenery again (maybe thats my computer?). I kill the first mofo, then the next and so on for minutes and at the last one I fail. Back to start. Again and again. That's annoying. Where's the good old QUICKSAFE?

To the developers: A game should pour out happines hormones! I will be addicted to it! But even when I master these annoying sequences, I'm in a bad mood because of knowing there will be the next dumb sequence on the next corner.

I can't stop, not because I'm addicted, it's because I've paid lots of money. And the next game with bethesda on it, I won't buy!

This is the traditional method of Survival Horror games. Save points are far apart to keep the fear of death a real and constant threat. The game demands you solve the problem of how to survive.

I die a lot too, but I actually think there are too many autosaves. (The game knows I'm going to die often so I rather the checkpoints be farther apart, so I can then learn how to conserve more ammo/syringes by trial and error.)

This isn't Pokemon or Mario
Survival Horror is a genre all about overcoming difficult challenges and insanity, with the odds always stacked against you.

Thanks for your explanation, but to play 10 seconds, die and wait 30 seconds to start again is really horror, but not that kind of horror I'm looking for.

By the way: I really like the game setup with dark foogy caves, the gore and blood and monsters but I'm not one second scared or play with sweating shivering hands. Because it's a game!

For me a good game is like a movie where I can interact with. When I have to play over and over again the same sequence, it's like seeing a movie with a scratched dvd.

It takes you 30sec to load a checkpoint after dying?

Loading is insanely fast here, taking a few seconds tops.

Ok, I timed it: 21 seconds after death to start again.

The only real problem with the autosaves is they're placed often(sometimes) in bad spots. They make you redo long boring, easy sequences to get to the little spot you died in, not a good design choice unless your aim is to irritate the player. Have them closer to the area where you actually have to redo that thinking/strategy.

We also shouldn't have to see a cutscene all over again upon loading up / coming back. It really is a waste of time, there's no need to make the player have to skip - that should be taken care of in the developer's side.

Quicksaves though? I don't feel they'd fit in. The game is intentionally designed with a slow pace in mind. Rushing is how you die again.

Invisible guys, Laura, Safe heads are all that defines this game as survival! Remove those and game brakes.

FACEPALM! Trust me this product is not for you! Avoid at all costs! Sorry you was missled.
