So we finally know the name of the next Star Wars episode.
Are you excited? Cause I'm excited. I still kinda wonder why it has that title though, any theories?
God this past month as been good to the movie lovers.

If I remember anything from the official pictorial Star Wars guide "The Force Awakens" might refer to the rebirth of the Jedi Order a time period that until now was only covered in comics and novels. But I could always be wrong, it has been years since I watched or even touched anything Star Wars.
I really hope "the force" is referring to some Military Body (possibly Imperial Loyalists), and not the actual Force
why?
the force is "a energy field given by all living things, it surrounds us and penetrates us and binds the Galaxy together", so it really cant "awaken"
seriously, with a title like that it sounds like its gonna be another lame "ohh, this guys the chosen one who has a secret power that he will realize", and such films are always terrible.. If I wanted a film like that I would dig out my VHS tape of The Dark Crystal
except for the fact the extended universe never existed as far is Disney is concerned.. to bad, there were some good stories in the extended Universe (anything with Kyle Katarn)
True, as long as they let Boba Fett live though...
I don't know I think it will be cool, I wonder who will be the bad guys, I assume someone will go dark or something, which I guess is needed in a way, because there is supposed to be balance in the force and so you need a yin to the yang or whatever.
Still exciting news, outclasses Toy Story 4 by far.
Disney disregarded all that stuff!? I thought that would be the next step in the Star Wars universe, any idea what direction they plan on taking it since they don't want to use that stuff?
no ones sure what direction they are gonna take it, but they came out shortly after they acquired the franchise and said "Hey, you guys remember all the Extended Universe content you loved? yeah, well it never happened.. to bad"
which is a bummer, since some of the EU stuff had better writing than most of the films..
I can't really think of where they would take it other than multiple cartoon series and a whole bunch of films under the Star Wars: saga of films but technically stand alone films. I'm honestly sick to my stomach over this whole ordeal with Disney, I would rather see Star Wars dead then messed up by Disney.
Well we have yet to see what they do with it. I'm sure they'll go with some of the elements of the extended universe at least. It is a bummer though, but I would rather have new movies, than a person editing the old ones and re-releasing them, making the good old ones harder to come by.
Ugh. Terrible name. I really hope they're not going to make the mistake of the prequels and have too much emphasis on the Force and the Jedi as magic ninjas. The original trilogy was about soldiers, pilots, rebels and those caught between a hopeless conflict. Force users were rare and only one part of the narrative. Meanwhile in the prequels, Jedi were everywhere and they became the focus of every single plotline, with the Force itself often just serving as all-purpose plot-hole insulation. With this title is sounds like they're following the path of the prequels rather than the originals.
Yep, as far as I'm aware all the Expanded Universe stuff has been branded part of "Star Wars: Legends" as is no longer canon. Of course, Disney will learn is that if people don't like Episodes 7-9 the fan base will swap it around and consider the Expanded Universe to be the true canon, not the films.
That might not have been so much of a problem if a lot of the "plot" did not exist simply to connect action sequences together. :/
But who needs consistency, character development and storylines that make sense when we have SHINY LASERS?
Speaking of evil cult/groups, didn't they do something like that in Jedi Academy, most of those guys were not force users, at least no originally. And they tried to awaken an ancient Sith (I want to say Naga Sadow). So someone like him could awaken. I know Jedi academy isn't canon anymore (I guess), but at least it shows a way to make an evil cultist/remnant group work. So they could do something along that route.
The whole disregard of the extended universe still leaves a chip on my shoulder, which has since took a toll on my excitement for the movies, and has more so made me skeptical of what they have in store.
Yeah well, I have to agree with you. But I won't complain too much about it until we know more about what they have planned.
Looks like there is already a Star Wars thread going on: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1504554-the-latest-bit-of-news-on-star-wars-eps-vii/
