So I went to GameStop today...

I already own The Evil Within and didn't go there for any TEW related reason, went to pick up stuff and do preorders.

When at the register next to me a woman was showing her husband/boyfriend (idk) a copy of the game for the PS4 and the two guys behind the counter said "don't get that it's not even scary, just grotesque. save your money."

Should I have said something? I'm shy so I just observed but I like the game so I guess I should have put in my two cents to support a game that I think deserves to be played.

Well, the "clerks" telling someone what is or isn't scary is wrong. Every one experiences things differently, and what isn't scary to one person could be scary to another.

And, while I didn't find the game scary, I did/do love it. It's an amazing game and one more people should play.
Also, from my experience, the people at Gamestop are possibly the worst kind of idiots when it comes to gaming.

Ya you're not supposed to dissuade someone from a game unless you know them personally. I don't believe it is company policy but I do think its an unwritten rule in sales, you also can't blame GameStop as a whole for the incompetence of their workers. Some of them are less than knowledgeable in video games and others are masters in the field, it really comes down to the individual. I wouldn't of said anything to extreme but I would of told the customer my experience in the game. Who knows maybe the GameStop employee's never played The Evil Within and were just going by what they heard or read somewhere. Its always helpful when a gamer helps out a fellow gamer, you never know that customer may of took that game home and fell in love with it and you would of been the one to thank for it.

It would be far more helpful if they told them the game has technical issues like fps drops and texture pop ins. If the game is "scary" or not... its opinion based.
