If that's how the world should work, not a biggie. Better no game than bad game. I'm looking forward to improvements that are unlikely to happen anyway.

I actually enjoy BGS games and consider them good, so I would be somewhat disappointed that it's one less BGS game. Then again I would be glad because they would have more time for TES6.

My reaction would be the same as Nas92's: I'd be a little disappointed at first, but then I would look forward eagerly to TES VI.

A lot of joy by some regulars here that I am sure. They don't have confidence in Bethesda at all. I would be dissapointed. But still clickbaits are boring.

They'll be named in Fallout 4. They'll be the antagonists of the game lol.

Except they decide to cancel TES as well, and concentrate on new rpg Wayne Gretzky Hockey 2: The Great White North.

I would wonder who would get the licence then, hoping not to live again the 2004's phenomeon with the franchise creators trying to buy the licence only to get outbidden by a random mainstream publisher. If they get outbidden again, i would rather not know it. (as if i could) Although, this time, they might crowdfund a bit to get extra money.

But i don't think it will happen this decade. Currently Fo3/FoNV had enough financial success to warrant significants selling for the next titles. But considering the market is currently crowded with open-world games, they are required to add some level of quality if they want to face the competition. They might ask a third-party develloper to add it or use extra time to improve themselves. If they keep a lazy formula, they might fall behind some greater titles like The Wither 3. They will sell their next game great, but they have to make it good enough to ensure that the other nexts will sell well too. But since the intial sales are what matters, regardless its quality, the next game will sell well.

That title is so misleading

To be honest my first reaction would be to ask why and then I'd wonder if Bethesda would be willing to sell the rights if they no longer wanted to develop Fallout games.

This.

I think some people mistake genuine criticism for disdain.

That's an understandable reaction but it just illustrates how closely linked Fallout is to the TES series these days that they are ALMOST interchangeable.

One of my hopes for Fallout 4 is that it has some sort of standalone identity from TES, though that could be wishful thinking.

Rather, they might want to sell the right if they no longer want to publish it. If they just don't want to devellop them, they could still publish them and outsource devellopement, like they do for the vast majority of the titles they own. Most players wouldn't even notice it, seing the same company name on the box.

probably most FO1 and FO2 players.

I personally would be disappointed by the news. I've just gotten into the series starting with Fallout 3 which is my fav over it and New Vegas. The series as so much potential still. To hear there would be no more. :(

I'd get over it... but I'd probably need a few beers first.

So if Bethesda canceled F4 and sold Fallout to Obsidian or Troika for example, you wouldn't rejoice?

I also have no trust in them. In no studio for that matter. Because I'm overly critical and think I'd do better by default if given the chance. That's my crux. I already have a very clear picture in mind for Fallout 4 and this will most definitely not happen.

I don't want to break the habit though, because being critical is a great incentive in this industry as long as you don't annoy people with it and accept better ideas.

Bethesda would sell it to the highest bidder... which would be EA, more specifically http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKbbGX4Wz0Y Have fun with that.

Maybe they'd have a heart for the franchise as they had with New Vegas. But you're right, cash rules everything around us.

I doubt that the people who make those decisions actually play video games, or, for that matter, consider them anything more than childish products. Todd Howard and Emil P. might sell to Obsidian, but they're not the ones who make the decision.

Agreed. Although about as unlikely as my other dream, Obsidian owning Fallout.

That's also true.

What interests me, do you think Bioware'd be a worse choice than Bethesda? I do.
