Any info is appreciated, thanks in advanced!

So, I have never encountered him myself, but my husband has on several occasions. A mysterious archer that dons what appears to be a unique leather armor and wields a ebony bow and a large arsenal of ebony arrows. He's encountered him at many different levels with many different characters. The most recent time that he encountered this mystery assailant was about a year ago with a level 30(ish) character.

He was doing the quest line to help the East Empire Trading Company in Windhelm (the quest name slips my mind, sorry.) He was on the final stage of the quest and killed the mage on the island. He was making his way to the ship when the assailant, whom he had no idea was there, got a kill cam and killed him with a signal ebony arrow. As if this archer had been hunting him and just wanted to kill him. There had been no altercation, they hadn't become enemies, the archer just wanted to kill him.

He's encountered this same archer several times before. The first time, was early on in his Skyrim experience and the archer was at the end of a barrow. My husband thought something was a miss because all of the draugr were dead, some of them had a single ebony arrow on their corpse. When he reached the end of the barrow, the archer was waiting for him. The archer proceeded to kill him because, as it would seem, he is ridiculously powerful.

Any other time my husband encountered him, there was a single ebony arrow in the wall or ground outside of a dungeon as if saying "I am in here, enter and you will become my prey."

I have been scouring the internet for any info about this archer but have found no such proof that he exists. My husband searched a couple years ago when he first encountered the archer and only found ONE account of the same story, and it seems that it is gone now. I would like to hear if anyone has had the same experiences or if anyone has even managed to KILL this archer. I would REALLY like to know who he is. Any info helps!

This game has been out long enough that there are no longer any mysteries. If there were any such mysterious archer, it would be well known. Sorry to say, but this sounds like something that is made up (my initial reaction).

Although, there is no indication that this NPC would ever be initially hostile to your character. Otherwise, a glitch of some sort?

I once found the ghost cousin of someone who knew Martin Septim in an underwater blue Oblivion gate and he sold me a staff that shoots exploding chainsaws.

Are you running any mods?

Either mod related, or a well thought story.

The idea is awesome, there should be countless little random things like this, instead of questlines even. But yeah I think your husband is pulling your leg. You know a game is big when it has its own urban folk tales.
