I am just posting because this issue is currently frustrating me and I want to see if anyone else has had this issue. I use an Xbox One controller for my PC gaming. It has destroyed 4 USB cables, the one it came with and the 3 I bought after market. It is something about the way the usb port on the controller is designed, it always starts off great the USB cable fits in nice and snug no problems. Then after a week or so of normal use the usb cable starts to become lose and lose connectivity constantly, eventually it will cease to work all together. On two of the cables the end bent over, again just from regular use. I am not hard or rough on it at all. Granted I have been buying the cheap generic 4 dollar micro usb cable for PS4, I just don't want to spend the money on a nice fancy one only to have this controller destroy yet another cable.
I would rather they used a proprietary cable that locks into place so it can't physically fall out. Why don't they make locking USB cables? It seems obvious.
