Derogatory names?

Post » Sun May 16, 2010 4:10 am

What are some derogatory names for races of Tamriel? Specifically Redguards, please. I'm not talking about names like "Black man", "lizard man" or "Cat". Something that is TES-esque.

As far as I know, there isn't a Redguard derogatory name. Dark Elves, if not Elves in general, are called "devils" by Nords in numerous texts.

I believe that the Dark Seducer guard at Cylarne insults a Redguard character by calling him or her a "sheepherder" or something like that. There are specific insults for each race, if I recall correctly, such as a Breton being a "mongrel race" and the Dunmer being "god cursed" and "by-product of a Daedras dung".

I am probably not getting the quotes down verbatim. Additionally, I do not believe that the Redguard insult contained any race-specific word, which it seems is the goal of your inquiry, and for that I am sorry; I am at a loss.

Although my knowledge does not seem capable of supplying your need, I still remain...

It is "dust-dwelling goat-herder, pathetic remnant of infamous Yokuda", to be exact.

The Dunmer in prison at the start of OB has a string of insults for the differnt races, look up his Dialogue. I beleive he refered to Imperials as "Imperial Trash".

Also, I beleive in Redguard there was a few names chucked around for the imperials, but they wern't Yoku names.

Swit and N'wah are derogatory names for all races, if I'm not utterly mistaken. Dunmer from Morrowind use them.

One way to slur a person that adheres to outdated modes of worship known as "Hermaeus Mora" and the attending ridiculous notions that crabs can be anything smarter than sushi side dishes is by calling him or her "Brian S". :bolt:

(Yeah, I see ya lurkin', buddy, and I still need to email you that stuff. :good job:)

Likewise, a proper aspersion unto those lifeless followers of the lord of knowledge (Juliaons, Jhunal, et. al.) and the attending ridiculous notion that their ceaseless, nugatory, and inconsequential pencil-pushing, book-worming, and [lawyering] are anything but the adjectives aforementioned is to refer to them as (and I must warn only out of my desire for voraciousness that this following word is so highly cognitively acidic that the early Jills [before the Star Wound was a Wound] had named it a poison to their master's synapses) ...NERD.

Poke around http://www.imperial-library.info/translation/index.shtml to find some choice insults, such as "fetcher."

I read somewhere that Dunmer would get very insulted at the word "ashborn." That was in the last thread like this, though, so it may have been fanon -- although I judge by BATW, so there.

I think that would be mainly Dunmer in the Great Houses. I can't imagine Ashlanders taking offense at that.

Brian S, you managed to use the word "nugatory"? I'll have to look that one up; I've seen it before but not often. :)
