Hearthfire = Extreme Lag on PS3

Post » Sun Nov 16, 2014 6:02 pm

I already knew that Hearthfire was going to be absolutely packed with glitches and bugs and not work in any way as it should, it was made by Bethesda after all, who seem to do without the whole testing phase of video game development before pocketing our money, but anyway I did not think that it would cause extreme lagging, slowdowns and more crashing than ever before.

Has anyone else noticed this? If it is Hearthfire related it is absolutely disgusting and pathetic that Bethesda haven't fixed this 3 years on. After 30 mins to an hour of playing the game now my game slows down and lags so much it's unplayable at times.

Of the 3 DLCs, Hearthfire gave me the fewest (if any) problems. Before and after patching.

On PS3? How about the workbenches constantly giving you options to build things that you have already built? Does Gregor the housecarl exist on your game?

I also have a bug in Winstad manor where the workbenches just keep on giving me options to build things that I have already built in that room and are right there in front of me. This means I have no idea what I have left to build. How exactly would a human playtester miss things like this?

How the hell did Beth create 2 amazing dlcs in Dragonborn and Dawnguard and then create this travesty? It's the worst dlc in the history of Elder Scrolls. Being a completionist I wanted to do everything in it but even doing the most basic things that you are supposed to be able to do is impossible. Surely that's "game-breaking"? Yet surprise surprise...no patches to fix these years old bugs. :stare:

Haha. I have ended up uninstalling Hearthfire. That DLC was just ruining the game for me. Hearthfire felt more like washing a massive pile of dishes rather than playing an enjoyable RPG for me. However in my case the dish pile was never ending due to workbenches constantly messing up even after going back to them 20 plus times. It took me 2 solid days in real time to get 2 of my houses built and furnished and that is without the wing additions. My OCD meant I simply had to complete all 3 houses.

The main thing that bothered me about this dlc was that everything in it is already in the main game so by the time you play it, it is all redundant so you just have the option of building a house simply for the sake of building a house which doesn't have anything new in it. Adopting a kid really isn't an amazing feature either, let's face it. My plan was to complete the main game quest and all guild quests, side quests and misc quests, which I've done, then clear Dawnguard which I've done, then Hearthfire and Dragonborn. In order basically. I am a completionist so it's a shame I have to skip it.

Dragonborn and Dawnguard are story driven masterstrokes so I can't fathom what made Bethesda think that such a dlc would appeal to fans of a game like Skyrim. Anyway on to Dragonborn and I'll just pretend Hearthfire never existed.

The idea of build your own house was badly handled by Bethy. But if you could really be a Land Lord and have a village of your own with your house being the center of it. Now that would've been awesome.

Yes that would be good but I would rather have had another story driven dlc similar to DB and DG in it's place. I'v just had an epic war with the Ebony Warrior and can't wait to get to Sovngarde. The things that excite me as a Skrim/RPG gamer (and I would imagine most others are the same) are the following:-

- New weapons, armor, artifacts and gear

- Interesting characters

- A great storyline

Everything else is secondary by far I think. These are present in the main game, DB and DG in abundance but are non-existent in HF. Ah well :twirl:

Well, Hearthfire pretty much is just a house mod with a price tag. To expect more is.. ridiculous..

But for the actual house building aspect to be bugged beyond use which it certainly is for me is beyond ridiculous. And the fact that it has a price tag means I should at least expect it to actually work as it's supposed to sport.

If you're expecting finding him in Sovngarde... Well he is a Redguard.

A lot of TES fans love the game for all the stuff you can do ASIDE from the main quest and major guilds, and a lot of those people are also into roleplaying and immersion. This kind of mods add tons to immersion, so I see nothing weird at all in such mod.

Concept wasn't handled badly at all imo, it's just that they couldn't handle it without tons of bugs, as is usual with Beth.
